Please Read/Comment "Is Anything Serious: My Logic To Life"

WHO SAYS NOTHING GOOD COMES OUTTA DETROIT?!

Today, I'm going to post about a young man who's made an impact for the positive in my life. He's never met me, doesn't know my name. But I'll always be indebted to him for speaking what God has put in his heart.
****

You know how it is, you're blessed with health, a roof over your head, friends, kids not in jail, 2 good hair-days in a row...and yet you're still complaining??
Don't even try it! I know I'm not the only one! lol

Well, while yakking w/ my co-worker in her cubicle I noticed a poem that was posted on her wall.
I read it.
And was instantly convicted.

LORD:

I'm Sorry Cartoon

Stunned that these words resonated so deeply within, I asked if I could copy this poem. She said of course. I then inquired of the author, and learned it was our other co-worker's son.
SMH
This young man is 19!
So without further ado, I'm going to post this poem...and I hope his simple logic touches you, just as it has me.
IMHO, I believe he should have called it, "a big ta-do about NOTHIN!!" lol

Is Anything Serious: My Logic To Life

Leering over my glasses, I look
Wow, you're angry and that's all it took?
Man I don't know why you take this stuff to heart
Me? I prefer to look at it as art.
See, some art you can understand at a glance
And some is as complex as learning a Mongolian dance.
Now, with things I don't understand...I don't fret.
And if you do, you'll just end up a wreck.
This thing called life, now here's a fact:
You only got ONE, now how 'bout that?
Most issues in life don't call for tears
Nor screamin' or hollerin,' not even childish fears.
Worries and worries will make you sick.
And with just one life, now who can risk?
The next time you find yourself riled up remember this:
Sit back and shake off your deliriousness
And ask yourself: Is ANY of this serious??

Now that Charlie has cracked my face 6x's, I am not only more careful about my ingratitude, but I'm also proud of him for sharing his gift with the world, eventhough he's a young, black, male, (from) Detroit.
I don't care what the statistics say about Detroit...there's greatness awaiting discovery there!

Charlie's proof that you can- in your youth keep it real without vulgarity, profanity, video hoes, athletic scholarship, spinning rims, bling-bling, a spot on MTV Cribs, and yet STILL CHANGE THE WORLD!!

CHARLIE...YOU ARE AN INSPIRATION!!

Tony: The Makings of A Man

SmileyCentral.com

I've begged, pleaded, bartered, and threatened you to no avail.
Your ideology regarding school caused you to fail.
Being handsome and witty gets you so far in school.
I've conveyed to you bluntly, who wants an Adonis-looking fool?
It was what it was.
It is what it is.
Wasn't looking for Doogie Howser,
Simply Tony to handle your biz.

I reluctantly stood back.
I stood back and prayed.
When I thought of your future as a Black man,
My heart became weighed.

It was two weeks ago, when I entered your room,
You were laying on the bed, when you heard a big boom.
I literally fell to the ground, in shock and surprise.
You were reading your school book, before my eyes.
Excuse me! Who are you, and what have you done with my son?
You chuckled, blushed, and played along.
My mind quickly raced, convinced something is wrong.
You said, "Ma chill out. I got something I'm workin' on."

When you turned and looked at me, I looked past you.
Laying on your bed was something new,
There were your scribblings on paper, and you had a look of pride.
Thankful I allowed God to handle it, and let this thing ride.

Perplexed, I asked, "I don't get it, Tony, what's going on?"
You replied, "Ma, I'm getting older. I can't keep playing this same song."
Wise beyond your 16 years, I felt such relief.
I realized you finally "got it," as I stared in disbelief.

You've encouraged me in life, now that I think back.
Remember when you told me, I was on the right train, but on the wrong track?
I've never laughed so hard when you, MY kid, told me the truth.
And now you too are on the right track, learning early in youth.

See, Tony, I can't just want it; you have to want it for yourself.
You have one life to live, and you must excel.
I can lead you to water, but I can't make you drink.
I can ask you challenging questions, but I can't make you think.

You have to come into your own, and then you'll understand.
That evolving and maturity are the makings of a man.

I'm proud of you, Tony-keep up the good work!

He Chose Me...

He is God
No longer striving to make a name for myself
for I now walk in the name of "Jesus,"
I recount the days of not long ago,
as a babe in Christ new to this faith walk,
fearful when I didn't hear from you or speak to you.
Alone without you or so I thought.
Feeling abandoned yet again, I wanted to leave you, but was unable.
Foolishly believing you were like the rest, I wanted to shut down, and hide.
But with faith the size of a seed , yes mustard I mustered up strength.
"PLEASE DON'T WALK AWAY" Lord, I cried!
Not realizing the magnitude of the faithful God I now worshiped.
"Because of who you are" you picked me up, and loved me.
you wiped away tears, brushed away stray strands that lay plastered to my face.
Realizing you my Lord, would never leave me, never forsake me, it is an inconceivable thought.
How is it possible to mess up, foul up, drop the ball, miss it by this much, come so close, oops no cigar,
better luck next time, this was not my season, everything happens for a reason, what is wrong with me, there's a time and a place for everything, and yet You still love me?

When I said I would never serve Him again, because his children hurt me.
He loved me the same.

When I vowed to never utter another prayer.
He loved me the same.

Through thin pages of power you speak the Word.
You said, I can do all things, i can ask for wisdom, i have a sound mind,
To build on a solid foundation, and to all people be kind.
I sing when I'm happy, blue, confused, misused, and abused, because regardless of circumstance
you've promised to see me through.
*****
I tell all what you've done for me, but also what you'll do for them.
I say he'll make the darkness light again
Can you believe that my friend?
I've purposed in my heart to be grateful in all things.
Because, I have eternal gratitude for Christ Jesus who allowed this captive's freedom to ring.
I sing because I can.
Not for attention or a record deal.
I sing because I'm a walking miracle.
Because my life the enemy wanted to destroy kill & steal.
I know for myself, not based on what I heard or read,
That my Almighty God is great, as I'm made mindful every time I rise out of bed.
As you healed me from my past, my hurts, and pain-You infused me with love, and I began to live again.
Your love poured out of me, just as rivers flow do.
I look in the mirror and a smile shines through.
Because my Father saved me, the devil's defeated, and I your baby girl whom you knew before creation..
have been made anew.
You..And...You Alone...Are God, and for that reason alone, I'll always be eternally grateful. Amen.
