Gospel music fans have moved on from the chaos surrounding Tonex's "The Naked Truth" video. controversial vid And so has he.

The controversial singer says he's moving on to acting and book writing.

"I just filmed "The Hustle" with Charlie Murphy, David Alan Grier and Kym Whitley," he told us. "And I'm working with Janet Jackson her new album and a couple of songs with Michael."

Does this mean his gospel music career is over? Tonex says [fans] will hear from him internationally (London). He may release an album in fall 2008. Domestically, he's sticking with acting.

Why is he doing it this way? "Less is more," he says. "If you pull back, you get launched forward. Always keep them guessing. A lot of the gospel artists, you see them all of the time. Sometimes you have to pull back to launch forward."

I'm not really sure where I am on the map as far as Tonex's concerned.

He has exhibited frustration, anger and hurt towards the church that is alarmingly familiar to me.

I do remember his androgynous phase too. Who was he rebelling against?

I hope that he finds joy and peace in Christ, and sincere people in the entertainment business who are not wolves in sheep clothing.

Watching hip hop videos that amplify sexually explicit and violent themes can lead to alcohol abuse and promiscuity among young black girls, according to a new study of sexual stereotypes in rap music footage.

The research was based on a survey of 522 African-American girls aged 14 to 18 who were asked how often they watched rap videos, questioned about their sex lives and asked to provide a urine sample for a marijuana screening, reports Reuters.

Researches found young black girls who spent more time watching rap music videos were more likely to binge drink, have sex with multiple partners, test positive for marijuana and have a negative body image.

"In rap music videos, the glamorized depictions of alcohol use are often portrayed in conjunction with sexual imagery and portrayals of drug use are often depicted as normal," wrote the researchers in a report appearing in the Journal of Women's Health.

The study comes from researchers at the Rollins School of Public Health, Emory Center for AIDS Research, School of Medicine at Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia and the University of Alabama, Birmingham.

They said many psychosocial factors can adversely affect self-image, health status, and the likelihood of engaging in high-risk behaviors among young girls. But one such factor is exposure to rap music videos, which often portray African-American women as hypersexual and amoral and include content related to violence, sexuality and drug and alcohol abuse.

The report, entitled "Images of Sexual Stereotypes in Rap Videos and the Health of African-American Female Adolescents," concluded that there was a need for greater awareness and education about the risks associated with this media exposure.
