Randy Pausch Showed People How to LIVE while DYING...

Ray Pausch died yesterday of pancreatic cancer.
I had only recently heard about this awesome man thru my co-worker.
Randy was an accomplished computer science professor at Carnegie Mellon University, who lead an adventurous life that most of us only dream about.source

Randy was a person who continually challenged himself and lived the adage, 'don't talk about it, BE ABOUT IT.
He MADE LIFE HAPPEN.

Randy Pausch emphasized the joy of life in his "last lecture," originally given in September 2007.

I admire Randy bcuz:

• he did not complain when given the news of his terminal disease.
  
• Nor did he question, why him?
• He made the most of what little time he had left for the benefit of others, not himself.
• And believed wholeheartedly in 'each one, reach one, and teach one.'

Donda West, mother of Kanye, dies source

Donda West died Saturday night in Los Angeles, said the spokesman, who asked for anonymity because not all family members had been notified.

"The family respectfully asks for privacy during this time of grief," the spokesman said.
A cause of death has not been released.

Donda West was known for the strong bond she shared with her son, by whose side she was often seen at parties and award shows.
In May, she published the book "Raising Kanye: Life Lessons from the Mother of a Hip-Hop Star," in which she paid homage to her famous son.

Donda West served as chief executive of West Brands LLC, the parent company of her son's business enterprises, and as chairwoman of the Kanye West Foundation, an educational nonprofit that works to decrease dropout rates and improve literacy.

She worked in higher education for 31 years, before leaving academia in 2004 to help manage her son's career, according to a biography on the Kanye West Foundation's Web site.
She began working at Chicago State University in 1980 and eventually chaired the school's English department, according to the site. She started her teaching career in the early 1970s as an instructor at Brown College in Atlanta.

Prayers goes out to the West family, and I pray a counselor is dispatched at Kanye's side 24/7 and remove all sharp objects, projectiles & firearms.

BLACK COLUMBIA PROFESSOR REACTS TO NOOSE: Woman wants perpetrator to know she 'will not be silenced.'

A rally was held Wednesday at Columbia University to protest the discovery of a noose on the office door of an African-American professor.

The target, Madonna Constantine, 44, is a professor of psychology and education at Columbia's Teachers College, where the noose was found Tuesday hanging from her office door knob. She co-wrote the book "Addressing Racism: Facilitating Cultural Competence in Mental Health and Educational Settings."

Constantine issued a statement saying, "I am upset that the Teachers College community has been exposed to such an unbelievably vile incident, and I would like us to stay strong in the face of such a blatant act of racism. Hanging the noose on my office door reeks of cowardice and fear on many levels. I want the perpetrator to know that I will not be silenced."

The New York Police Department is investigating the matter as a hate crime, reports CNN.
The building, which is open 24 hours a day, is accessible only to those with a Teachers College ID card or other credentials. No arrests have been made and no suspects have been identified, police said.

University President Lee Bollinger denounced the incident in a statement sent out to the Columbia University community: "Tolerance and mutual respect are among the core values of our diverse community, and all of us must confront acts of hate whenever they occur within it. As I said last night, an attack on the dignity of any member of our community is an assault on all of us."
