Fannie Mae forgives 90 yr old Addie Polks foreclosure debt...after she shoots herself
Yep it's come to that. For senior citizens this is supposed to the be the golden years. But how can that be when you have to choose between paying for meds and the roof over your head?
When the deputies came to evict her from her home, Addie, 90, shot herself in the upper torso...twice
Fannie Mae foreclosed on the Akron, Ohio, home of Addie Polk, 90, after acquiring the mortgage in 2007.
Everyday more and more people are faced with desperate choices. Endure the shame of losing a home, being homeless or just end it in death.
Addie is in critical condition.
Critics against the emergency financial bailout understood it wasn't for the Addie's of America, but for the big businesses. What about America-the people? Unfortunately this is not an isolated case, and there will be those who succeed in killing themselves rather than lose their home.
One of my commenters WC Varones asked the question that I was thinking of, and I paraphrase (and added some of my own thoughts to): So if everyone who's home is in foreclosure shoots (stabs, ingests pills, hangs, drinks just enuf poison, kinda slit their wrists -whatever their near suicide pleasure is) will they be forgiven their debts as well??
This is what it comes down to...corporations who continually bilk 'the people' out of things we need to live.
Why did I hear in my finance class THAT PEOPLE ARE FINANCING LUXURY CARS FOR 8 -9 YRS????
WHAT?!
Predator lenders (be it mortgagers, car financiers etc)...encouraging people to live beyond their means-and then when they live beyond their means the homes foreclose...and then more foreclosures and more foreclosures...and now gasp! NO ONE WANTS TO BUY/SELL homes.
The money grubbers hadn't thought of that.
I have nothing nice to say about being American other than...I wonder what it's like living abroad and would they (those overseas-or hell in those in the caribbean) take it out on me that I AM American????
What a farce...we're not a government by the people for the people.
We're a government by unwitting people who believed in the empowerment of this country...who did not know corporate greed would supplant the needs of the people.
