Akon's Con: He's NOT An Ex-CON!

warning to celebrities or those who aspire to be a celebrity: STOP LYING ABOUT BEING A CRIMINAL(In a sorry attempt to sell CDs/books, gain street cred etc) BEFORE SMOKING GUN EMBARRASSES YOU!!

Such is now the case with the King of layered/synthesized voice singing, Akon (below)
http://media.wktv.com/images/Akon.jpg

source

Akon has consistently claimed to have been 'locked up'
for 4.5 years...due to felonies-which includes car theft.
Well, that's not what Smoking Gun discovered. Akon, has 1 felony on record- gun possession (which ended in PROBATION) and at a later date, he was held in Dekalb (GA) COUNTY JAIL for stealing ONE BMW (charges were droppped).

These claims are contrary to "Akon's (by his own admission)
gang (which) specialized in boosting Porsches, Lamborghinis, and Mercedeses, he owned four chop shops catering to "celebrities and drug dealers,"

NOT.

ACON has also claimed to have, at 150 lbs,
"fought almost every day for two years," in the process becoming a "champion" who prevailed over both big and small inmates because, "I knew where to hit you to knock you out, so I didn't fear you."

NOT.
I guess if you tell the same story often enough, you truly will believe it inevitably.

I think it's a sad testament to the audience at large and musical powers that be-who INSISTS on artists, depending upon the music genre, having a certain background as a pre-requisite in order to be considered credible.
For example, you're not credible as a rapper, unless you've slanged some dope, been shot 8,349 x's, and have been locked up.
You're not a credible country singer if you don't have a pick-up truck and a trailer home, and singing sad songs.
You're not qualified as a rocker if you're not loud and a druggie.

Since Acon did not hold his own and insists upon THE truth, he now will be viewed as a liar, a perpetrator, a fake etc etc.

OH Well.

Text-Sex Scandal Makes National News

* STEVE WILSON: Text Msg Sex Scandal

Hours after the Detroit Free Press revealed racy text messages between Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and Chief of Staff Christine Beatty, the shocking story is making national news.

See Video

DETROIT (AP) — Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick exchanged romantic and sexually oriented text messages with a top aide, contradicting their denials in court that they had romantic ties, the Detroit Free Press reports.

In a story on its Web site Wednesday night, the newspaper quotes from exchanges between Kilpatrick and chief of staff Christine Beatty. Kilpatrick issued a statement Wednesday night saying the messages "reflect a very difficult period in my personal life."

Last summer, Kilpatrick and Beatty testified in a police whistleblower lawsuit and denied any sexual or romantic ties in 2002-03.

Mike Stefani, a lawyer for the officers, asked Beatty if she and Kilpatrick were "either romantically or intimately involved with each other" during the period covered by the case.

"No," she replied.

Stefani asked Kilpatrick if he was "romantically involved with Christine Beatty" in 2002-03.

"No," he replied.

At another point in his testimony, Kilpatrick expressed anger about claims of an affair between him and Beatty.

"I think it was pretty demoralizing to her — you have to know her — but it's demoralizing to me as well," the mayor said. "My mother is a congresswoman. There have always been strong women around me. My aunt is a state legislator. I think it's absurd to assert that every woman that works with a man is a whore.

"I think it's disrespectful not just to Christine Beatty but to women who do a professional job that they do every single day. And it's also disrespectful to their families as well."

But the Free Press said it examined about 14,000 text messages on Beatty's city-issued pager from two months in 2002 and two months in 2003 and found many examples of such ties.

Kilpatrick is married, and Beatty was married at the time.

"I'm madly in love with you," Kilpatrick wrote on Oct. 3, 2002.

"I hope you feel that way for a long time," Beatty replied. "In case you haven't noticed, I am madly in love with you, too!"

On Oct. 16, 2002, Kilpatrick wrote Beatty: "I've been dreaming all day about having you all to myself for 3 days. Relaxing, laughing, talking, sleeping and making love."

In a statement released by his office Wednesday night, Kilpatrick said: "It is profoundly embarrassing to have these extremely private messages now displayed in such a public manner.

"My wife and I worked our way through these intensely personal issues years ago. I would now ask that the public and the media respect the privacy of my wife and children and of Christine Beatty and her children at this deeply painful moment for our families."

Wayne County prosecutor's spokeswoman Maria Miller declined comment on the legal implications of the report. Conviction of lying under oath could bring up to 15 years' imprisonment.

When asked if the prosecutor's office would open an investigation into possible perjury, Miller said: "We have not received anything from anyone. Other than that, we have no comment."

In the civil case, a Wayne County jury awarded $6.5 million to two former police officers in the lawsuit against the city and Kilpatrick.

The jury said Kilpatrick and the city unlawfully dismissed two officers — Gary Brown and Harold Nelthrope. The men claimed they suffered after looking into alleged wrongdoing within Kilpatrick's security unit.

The events happened in Kilpatrick's first four-year term. He was elected to a second term in November 2005.

The Free Press didn't explain exactly how it obtained the text messages, but said it was outside a lawsuit it filed to get all records related to the settlement the city reached with the two officers. The newspaper said it cross-referenced the text messages with the mayor's private calendar and credit card records from that period to verify events in some messages.

You can only lie for so long before those lies catch up with your behind!
i gotta feeling Kwame's wife is going to go out like Lionel Richie's ex-wife, and tag that behind!
It's one thing to know your hubby's a sniveling, lying, cheating dog-allegedly, but it's another having to read the intimate, sordid details between the sniveling, lying, cheating dog-allegedly- and his skank.
Who wants to read that mess??
Kwame's wife doesn't come across to me as stupid, but then again, I didn't think P-diddy's baby mama Kim was an idiot either-so the jury's still out on this one.
I believe in the power of forgiveness-but that scoundrel was laying up with his *garden tool* and Mrs. Kwame had to deal with 3 testosterone filled boys!
Excuse me?!
Must be nice to have authority to abuse and BELIEVE it'll NEVER come back to haunt you.
Get outta here, Kwame!
The city of Detroit would be A BIGGER FOOL than Mrs. Kwame, if they vote that overdone windbag, back into office.
Give me a break!
Kick his uncomfortably built behind to the curb-where he b'longs, and he can take chicken head with him!

When Missing Black People Get National Attention: It's Not What You Know...But Who You Know!

Oh, It's Like That?!
(flyer courtesy of Someone Is Missing)

When it was brought to my attention (in passing) that Karyn McConnell Hancock was a pregnant attorney, I just figured she was another white victim who was offed by her husband.
(Can I keep it real on my blog, please?)

However, when I found out she was a black woman (via the radio)-I had a fleeting suspicion. Why did I hear about this black woman who was missing via mainsteam media, but I didn't hear about any of the black college women who were MIA?

I hadn't post the story regarding Karyn the attorney, because it didn't move me to, I found myself disinterested. I figured hmmm...'hormones,' more or less.

But the question still gnawed at me...why?? why are we hearing about this black woman?

Well, after learning she recanted her story and is now being charged with making false alarms-I took the time out to familiarize myself with this story.

Looking at the key players:

  • Karyn McConnell Hancock-who has excelled (read, had a lot on her plate), including her own law firm, her whole life according to her bio at Final Harvest Church Karen's bio as 1st lady

  • Karyn's husband Bishop Lawrence Lavale Hancock-prominently known . Bishop Lawrence Hancock's bio

  • Judge C. Allen McConnell-currently, the only black judge serving in that capacity according to Toledo's Municipal Court's website: Toledo Municipal Court's Staff
Focusing solely on the fact that Karyn's disappearance was given nationwide coverage (not the lie she generated surrounding her disappearance), I'm lead to believe that Karen's disappearance was covered because of the family's prominence.

Attorney, Bishop & Judge.

So are we to presume and assume that unless a black woman is professional & connected...expect minimal media coverage in the case of one's disappearance??
That seems to be the case.

The Nailah Franklins and Latasha Normans of this world, and other african-americans who are/were missing and are mentioned in Deidra's blog
Black & Missing
-deserves the same courtesy.
Don't they?

Is it possible to cover EVERY black person-minority who disappears?
Of course not, but it must get better than this.

My heart breaks for these black women
-who truly were/are missing, and the only ones aware of their disappearance
are their families and surrounding cities/town.

Mocking a kidnapping
is not funny.
Innocent people could've gotten in trouble, pulled over, harassed, brought in for questioning--even with Karen's vague description.
It's happened, before.

I'm glad to know Karyn is truly safe, but just based on her bio at her church's website-Karyn needs to go on a sabbatical, for at least 3 years. I was exhausted just reading the bio. She has too much on her plate, and we all know you can't be everything to everyone.

To Karyn: stop being scared to say 'NO,' and seek psychiatric help...you definitely need it-and we're all praying that God heals you where you hurt.

You Better Recognize-To thine ownself be true-and that'll negate the need to fabricate a cock-and-bull story.

Amanda, Why did you kill Devon???

Mother Charged With Murder In Child's Death
source

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Greenville County Sheriff's Office said Monday that murder charges have been filed against the mother of a 7-year-old boy, who told investigators that her child was smothered by a carjacker.

VIDEO: News 4 Interview With Devon Epps' Father
VIDEO: Sheriff Steve Loftis Statement On Investigation

Devon Epps died from asphyxiation due to neck compression on Aug. 12.
Greenville County Sheriff Steve Loftis said that the child's mother, Amanda Smith, was arrested and charged Monday and is jailed at the county detention center without bond.
Smith was arrested Monday at work at a restaurant on East North Street.

Loftis made the announcement Monday afternoon at a news conference outside the Greenville County Law Enforcement Center, flanked by investigators and 13th Circuit Solicitor Bob Ariail, who will prosecute the case.

Smith told Greenville County investigators in August that a man with a knife forced his way into her car on an Interstate 85 frontage road and smothered the child with a pillow in the back seat.
She gave a sketch artist a description of a man she said killed her child, but investigators came up empty in their search, following more than 60 possible leads.

But Loftis said that Smith's account of the story did not hold up under investigation and that information deputies gathered kept pointing back to her as the likely killer.

"As the investigation progressed ... we kept running into dead ends," Loftis said. "Every thing we found out kept pointing back to Amanda Smith."
Since her son's death, Smith has not spoken publicly about the case.
Devon's grandfather, Thomas Epps, said that the arrest was not a shock.

"No I'm not surprised. I knew all along she done it," Epps said. "I said in my heart I knew she done it."

A month ago, Devon's great aunt had gone on cable television to say that there were holes in the story Smith told investigators about his death.
Diane Jacques talked to CNN host Nancy Grace in September about her nephew's unsolved homicide.

"What person's going to take the time out to roll the windows up and lock the door," Jacques said. "And describing the guy as being so many feet high and 200 pounds in her car in the back seat. There's no way."
***
Only God in heaven can judge, but I do ask this question:
What in the world, could Devon had possibly done that would cause his mother to kill him?
My son and I viewed Devon's pic (above) and I said Devon looks like the kind of kid you could sit on the couch, watch videos with, share a bag of micro popcorn and kick your feet up on the coffee table. My son agreed. He looks like he had a hearty laugh too :)
Why didn't she just give Devon to his dad??
Only Amanda can answer the question.
I also would be interested to know the description of the "imaginary carjacker."
Like my friend Nat says, "it'll all come out in the wash."
Devon, r.i.p.

Shocked, But Not Surprised...

MARION JONES ADMITS TO STEROID USE: Former track star said she took 'the clear' for two years thinking it was flaxseed oil.
(October 5, 2007) (source story, image: eurweb.com)
The five medals won by Marion Jones in Sydney may be in jeopardy after the track sprinter sent a letter to close family and friends admitting that she used steroids before the 2000 Olympics.

Jones said she took "the clear" for two years, beginning in 1999, and that she received it from former coach Trevor Graham, who told her it was flaxseed oil, reports the Washington Post.
"The clear" is a performance-enhancing drug linked to BALCO, the lab at the center of a federal steroids investigation. Until now, Jones had repeatedly denied she ever took any form of performance-enhancing drugs.

Jones said she will plead guilty today in New York to two counts of lying to federal agents about her drug use and an unrelated financial matter, the Post reported.
"I want to apologize for all of this," the Post reported her saying, quoting a person who received a copy of the letter and read it to the paper. "I am sorry for disappointing you all in so many ways."

Jones won three gold and two bronze medals at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, where she emerged as one of the United States' brightest stars. But her reputation took a hit in subsequent years by repeated allegations of steroid use.

In her letter, Jones said she lied when she was questioned in 2003 by federal agents investigating BALCO, (the Bay Area Laboratory Co-Operative). Jones said she panicked when agents presented her with a sample of "the clear," which she recognized as the substance Graham had given her.

In the letter, Jones said she didn't realize she'd used a performance-enhancing drug until she stopped training with Graham at the end of 2002.
"Red flags should have been raised when he told me not to tell anyone," the Post reported, quoting the letter.

**********************
Keeping it real, are we really surprised at this revelation?
Do we understand the pressure these athletes are under, to perform at their optimal best?
Having said that, I find it hard to believe she didn't push back when Graham said do not "tell anyone." Red flags, sirens, burglar alarms, car alarms, fireworks, WOMEN'S INTUITION all of those signals went off-unless you're a sociopathic serial killer-because you have a conscious.
She should have kept it real and said she just chose to ignore that gnawing feeling that told her "something wasn't right."
I don't know what her motive is for stepping up, but she should also give those medals back. She didn't earn them honestly.
You all better recognize-what goes on in the dark, shall come to light.
