Barbara Wa-Wa Confessed She Got Her Swirl On...

I admit it...this totally surprised me!

Ms. Barbara "I keeps it real, while keeping it cool" Walters, admitted during a taping of an Oprah Winfrey Show episode-that she got her interracial swirl on with a black senator, Edward Brooke, back in the '70's.

**ok, i just saw the senator's pic...he could definitely pass for white...so i can see why she went there-seriously**

Brooke then:

Senator Edward Brooke

Brooke now:
The image “http://www.urbanhealthcast.com/IAMMM/EdwardBrooke170.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Babs reluctantly ended the affair after a friend urged her to, and said it would destroy her career. What's a non-black woman to do in those times? End the affair.
He definitely was a looker...girlfriend had great taste.
So far there's no word from Brooke's camp...but really-what is there to say almost 40yrs later??
let sleeping dogs, and affairs lay.

I just don't like when people 'air their dirty panties' as a promotional tool.
Babs has a book coming out, called "Audition" and I guess she decided to throw everyone a bone so we can get the book. I'm not an autobiography book fan, but I might check it out at the library...only bcuz i know soooo little about Babs.

Are YOU going to read the book??

Marion Be Like Vick and Just Do It!

MARION JONES APPEARS VIA SATELLITE ON 'OPRAH ': Track star explains why she lied about steroid use.

*Marion Jones appeared on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" Wednesday in her first interview since admitting that she lied about using performance-enhancing drugs throughout her career in track-and-field.

"I want people to understand that, you know, everybody makes mistakes. ... I truly think that a person's character is determined by their admission of their mistakes and then beyond that, what do I do about it?" Jones said via satellite from Austin, Texas, where she lives. "How can I change the lives of people? How can I use my story to change the life of a young person?"

Winfrey asked Jones what she was thinking during her repeated, impassioned denials that took place over the years. "You knew at that time, you knew were lying, right?" Winfrey said.

"I made a mistake. I made the choice, at that time, to protect myself, to protect my family," Jones said. "And now I've paid the consequences dearly."

Jones said she has yet to tell her 4-year-old son, the elder of her two boys, that Mommy's going to jail. She admitted she was disappointed that she was not given a probation-only sentence, as she and her attorneys hoped for.

"I put myself in a position to have somebody else determine my immediate future," she said. "I made that decision. I have to live with it, my family has to live with it. With the grace of God we'll get through it and come out even better at the other end."

Jones has until March 11 to begin her six month jail sentence for lying to investigators about steroid use and a check-fraud scam.

I hate that Marion went out like that.
IMO she truly played herself, but I do give it up to her for confessing.
Having said that, while I hate seeing her go to jail, she did break the law.
And I'm a firm believer in, "Don't do the crime if you can't do the time."
Sadness.
And she hasn't told her oldest child yet.
She better get a move on, cuz u know bays-bays all over the country are eavesdroppin on their mama's phone and kitchen conversations, and it'll only take a minute for one of those mannish kids to break Marion's kids heart in a manner similar to this:
bay-bay: You wanna go and see the the new Disney movie?
M.K. (Marion's kid): what Disney movie?
bay-bay: you knoowwww, the one where the pillows come to life when u turn off the lights and you can play pillow fight all night long.
M.K.: oh. I havta ask my mom.
bay-bay: why you gotta ask your mom if you can go to the movies?
M.K.: cuz my mommy said if I need something from her to just ask.
bay-bay: well tell her you're going to need her freedom for 6 mos, since she won't be needin it.
(looking confused) bay-bay: why you lookin like u don't know yo' mama doin' 6 mo flat?
M.K.: flat? flat what?
bay-bay: (long sigh) you are not THAT stupid! My mama, told my aunt Tameka, who told the twins' Cheyenn and Cheyenna's mother's boyfriend's sister's pastor that your mama is in jail for 6 mos.
Everybody knows yo' mama's in jail.
M.K.: shut up! take it back!
bay-bay: please, i ain't takin nothin' back!
M.K. oh yes you are!
bay-bay: no i ain't. who and what army is gone make me...??

***u see where this can lead to***
Marion, just keep it real. Tell the kids the truth. I'm sure they'll get street cred, now :)

Phil Spector: Aren't You Accused of KILLING A WOMAN?!

Below,Music producer Phil Spector (center) is blessed by Edwin Perry, with rising hands, during service for Ike Turner

OPRAH, WHOOPI DISSED DURING IKE TURNER MEMORIAL: Phil Spector blames them and other 'black sisters' for 'demonizing Ike.'

*Little Richard and Bonnie Raitt were among the hundreds paying final respects to rock pioneer Ike Turner Friday at his funeral in Los Angeles – but the ceremony was not without drama.

The service at Greater Bethany Community Church City of Refuge in Gardena lasted nearly three hours and included performances of Turner's greatest hits (including "Nutbush City Limits" and "Proud Mary") by his eight-piece band, the Kings of Rhythm.

The ceremony began with a montage of photos from throughout Turner's life set to his song "Jesus Loves Me," which features the refrain "I'm a bad boy, but Jesus loves me anyway."

"Daddy wouldn't want any of us crying," said Turner's daughter, Mia Turner, according to the Associated Press. "He would want us to throw a party."

Little Richard described his friend as "one of the greatest musicians I have ever met in my life," and told mourners that Turner's breakthrough rock 'n' roll hit, "Rocket 88," "shook my soul."

"I took that same introduction and made `Good Golly, Miss Molly,'" he said. "I took that same thing and made a huge hit."

Veteran music producer and murder suspect Phil Spector also spoke at the service, and had much to say about Ike Turner's contribution to American music being overshadowed by his exposure as a drug addict and abusive husband following the publication of ex-wife Tina Turner's biography, "I, Tina," and biopic, "What's Love Got to Do With It."

Spector told mourners: "First of all, the things that were said about Ike, that were in that piece-of-trash movie they made about him were ... (applause), it was a piece-of-trash movie."

In the film, a scene shows Spector approaching Ike and Tina after a television performance and requesting that Tina, played by Angela Bassett, sing lead on his song, "River Deep, Mountain High," without Ike. The movie depicts the slight as causing Ike, played by Laurence Fishburne, to have even more jealousy against Tina, which manifests in further physical abuse.

"I haven't seen the movie but it was told to me, and [Barney] Kessel was the world's greatest guitar player in the world and the only reason that Ike didn't play on 'River Deep, Mountain High' was because Ike was the second greatest guitar player in the world," Spector told the crowd, according to a witness quoted by Fox.com columnist Roger Friedman. "I treasured him and everybody knew it except Ike. That's how good he was.

"Ike made Tina the jewel she was. When I went to see Ike play at the Cinegrill in the '90s after his absurd reason for being sent to prison for no reason other than being a black man in America, there were at least, and I counted them, five Tina Turners on the stage performing that night, any one of them could have been Tina Turner."

According to Friedman, Spector also lit into Oprah Winfrey for inviting Tina Turner on her talk show in the early 90s to discuss "I, Tina," her autobiography that includes accounts of the physical abuse she suffered during her marriage to Ike.

"She made Tina Turner's book into a bestseller, which demonized and vilified Ike," Spector reportedly said. "The book wouldn't have sold 10 books. It was badly written. It was a piece of trash and because Oprah idolized Tina, she didn't feel it wrong to vilify a 'brother.'

"Other black sisters did the same thing to Ike and there was a very famous story about Whoopi Goldberg, who had a television show for about five minutes, interviewed Ike. Ike had called me and said, 'Shall I do the show?' I said, 'You can't get hurt.' And he said, 'OK, I'm going to do it.' And we figured it would be good because it's Whoopi and Whoopi asked him, 'I understand before you were married when you were living together, you beat the hell out of her and she tried to commit suicide because she was so terrified of you and she tried to jump out of a window,' and Ike said, 'Yeah, but it's hard to jump out of a window from a basement floor.'"

Spector said part of the reason he became disillusioned with the record business was because he could not make Ike and Tina as big of an act as he wanted.

"I wanted them to be the biggest revue in America. They were the first act that I recorded that ever could play big-time and break it in Vegas and America," said Spector, who stood trial for murder earlier this year for the shooting death of actress Lana Clarkson. A judge declared a mistrial in September after jurors failed to reach a verdict.

Many speakers alluded to Turner's personal woes, though none directly addressed his history of drug and domestic abuse.

"Stop holding this mess — whatever it is — against this man. Even Jesus forgives," said Richard, 75, who left the service early, aided by a walker and several assistants.

Ike Turner Jr., who brought his father's two Grammy Awards on stage, told the crowd: "He made billions and billions and billions of people happy. He had the best life."

The service concluded with scores of mourners gathering near Turner's casket, which sat beneath a guitar-shaped wreath made of white flowers. A 10-piece horn-and-drum ensemble played as mourners left the church, reports AP. source

Nope...Not Even Oprah "Miss Inner Goddess" herself, Can Get Me To Vote For Obama...

Thanks to Oprah, Obama camp claims biggest crowd yet source

COLUMBIA, South Carolina (CNN) -- Oprah Winfrey delivered her "favorite" candidate in the presidential race something his campaign hoped for Sunday: the largest crowd yet of any event in the race to '08, according to the Obama campaign.

art.oprah.obama.cnn.jpg

Oprah campaigned with Obama this weekend in Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina.

Although exact figures were not immediately available, campaign officials estimated more than 30,000 people packed into Columbia, South Carolina's Williams-Brice stadium to hear the talk-show queen explain why she believes Obama is the man with the "vision" for America.

"Dr. King dreamed the dream. We get to vote that dream into reality by supporting a man who knows not just who we are but who we can be," she told the crowd. South Carolina is one of the first states in the nation to hold its presidential primary, making it key to the success of any presidential candidate.

Winfrey gave a similar speech Saturday in the first stop of a two-day, three-state tour with her fellow Chicagoan. She discussed on Sunday stepping out of her "comfort zone" by entering the political scene on behalf of a candidate, and praised Obama's "ear for eloquence and tongue for unvarnished truth. We need politicians to tell the truth and be the truth." Video Watch what issues are important to Iowans »

She also said Obama would bring "a sense of statesmanship" to the White House. Video Watch Winfrey endorse Obama »

After extensive thank-yous to his wife Michelle and to Winfrey -- and acknowledging that the crowd was largely there to see Winfrey, not him -- Obama launched into his stump speech.

"I am running because of what Dr. King called 'the fierce urgency of now,' " he said.

Covering ground from the Iraq war to the economy to health care, he said, "there is such a thing as being too late -- and that hour is almost upon us."

His campaign worked the crowd, passing out cards to sign up supporters and verifying that those who showed up are registered to vote. They handed out cards asking fans to provide their mailing addresses and phone numbers. The cards also featured an "optional" pledge to vote for Obama on January 26.

In his speech, Obama did not mention his chief rival by name. But he clearly referred to Sen. Hillary Clinton, saying that if he gets the Democratic nomination, his Republican competitor won't be able to say he ever "supported the Iraq war." Video Watch how Winfrey's campaigning could give Obama a boost »

Clinton was among the Democrats who supported a resolution authorizing force in Iraq in 2002, though in a speech on the Senate floor she said she believed supporting the resolution could ultimately make war itself less likely. Obama was not in the Senate at the time, but gave a speech opposing the possibility of war with Iraq.

Clinton has held a lead over Obama in South Carolina, where the Democratic primary consists largely of African-American voters.

Clinton had a star of her own on the campaign trail for her Sunday in South Carolina -- her husband, former president Bill Clinton, who addressed a church in the morning. Check out some other celebrities who are endorsing candidates »

"She has the best combination of mind and heart and strength of leadership and feeling for ... the problems of ordinary people of anybody I've ever worked with," the former president said Sunday.

Oprah, You Should've Learned from "Million Little Pieces"...Do Your Research!

Oprah: "No Reason" to Check Out Adams -- Really?

source

**Oprah's going come out of this smelling like a rose, cuz she doesn't like admitting she's wrong.
She's predictable, so she'll probably take a moment before the show, look directly into camera and put her hoodoo on her sheeple (yes Oprah has sheeple too), SmileyCentral.com say heart tugging (public relations team constructed) verbiage, will have an onion in her lap so she cry on cue-you know, just for effect. Then Oprah will count to 3 and snap her fingers and none will be the wiser. SmileyCentral.com**

After nearly two weeks of radio silence, Oprah Winfrey has finally responded to TMZ's numerous requests for comment on Dr. Jan Adams and why she promoted him on her show when he is not board certified in plastic surgery.

Adams was featured on the Oprah show in 2003 with other cosmetic surgeons. In just a few hours of investigating, TMZ found DUIs and malpractice suits -- among other things. How could Oprah have missed it -- and not known or cared that Dr. Adams was not a board-certified plastic surgeon?

A rep for Oprah tells TMZ, "Dr. Jan Adams appeared as a guest on the 'Oprah' show just once, in 2003, as the host of the Discovery Health Channel series, 'Plastic Surgery: Before and After.' The show he appeared on focused on various television series that highlighted trends in cosmetic surgery. Since he was booked as a guest commentator on the subject of medical television, not in his capacity as a surgeon, and since we did not promote him as a cosmetic surgeon, there was no reason to do a background check on him. We have removed all references to him from our website."

Dr. Adams performed several cosmetic procedures on Kanye West's mother the day before she died. He told TMZ that he "did nothing wrong."

Oprah, what kind of hiring process is this??

SEXUAL, PHYSICAL ABUSE ALLEGATIONS AT OPRAH'S SCHOOL: Host flies in over weekend to personally assess the situation.
source

*More details of the alleged misconduct by a dorm parent at the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls in South Africa have surfaced. According to Fox News, an Afrikaans-language newspaper reported that the female employee is accused of various incidents of physical and sexual abuse against the students.

The woman, who has since been removed from the campus, allegedly grabbed a girl by the throat and threw her against a wall. Other alleged charges were that she swore and screamed at the girls, assaulted them and had sexually fondled at least one of them, according to Rapport newspaper.

The alleged incidents went public after one of the pupils ran away from the school because the abuse had become intolerable, according to Rapport. Her parents immediately notified the school.

Winfrey, herself the victim of childhood sexual abuse, immediately caught a flight to South Africa to check on the allegations. She is said to have arrived just over a week ago, missing an important Hollywood engagement. She then returned unexpectedly on Friday and left again on Sunday, reports Fox News.

The TV mogul met with the school’s executive and private investigators and held a two-hour meeting with the parents of her students, who were flown to Johannesburg from all over the country. A report by a private investigator flown in from the United States to conduct an inquiry with a South African counterpart has been turned over to the local police.

In her only public comment about the incident, Winfrey issued a statement saying: “Nothing is more serious or devastating to me than an allegation of misconduct by an adult against any girl at the academy.”

Ok, Oprah.
You offended many Americans after you opened your school in the Motherland.
But in light of recent events, I'm glad you didn't.
I'm not sure what the hiring process is over there, but it seems pervs slip thru the cracks over there, just like in America!
It takes more than throwing your name on top of a building, you need hands on involvement, and I don't mean like the kind that female employee (above) exhibited.
I pray that you and your team screen these potential employees more closely. Just because they live in the motherland doesn't mean ulterior motives do not run amok there as well.
I'm sure you'll be able to put a "spin'' on this when you return home.
Please see to it that those young ladies receive counseling...and put the perv under the school!
You betta recognize Oprah, issues ARE UNIVERSAL!
