Emanuel Murray's body was found by a passing motorist on Interstate 275 early Tuesday morning, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Department said. His mother's ex-boyfriend, 20-year-old Anthony McTear Jr., has been charged with first-degree murder, the department said.

Police went to the mother's apartment about 3:15 a.m. The mother, Jasmine Bedwell, 18, told investigators that McTear hit her several times and threatened "to kill the both of y'all," the sheriff's department said in a statement announcing the charges.

McTear threw a car seat containing the child across the room during the fight, causing the boy to fall onto the apartment's concrete floor, investigators said. He then picked up the boy and drove off in his car, throwing the child out while on the interstate, according to the sheriff's department.

The child's body was found about 4:30 a.m. An autopsy showed the boy died of blunt trauma to the head, the county medical examiner's office said.

McTear is not related to the child, sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter said.

McTear is facing additional charges of burglary with battery, felony battery, aggravated child abuse and kidnapping after his Tuesday arrest, the sheriff's department said.

A video shown on CNN affiliate WFLA TV shows McTear being led out of a Tampa police squad car after his arrest. He ducked his head as TV cameras surrounded him on his walk into a police building.

When asked by reporters if he had thrown the child out of the car window, McTear answered, "It's a dirty game. A dirty game."(WHAT IN THE HELL DOES THAT MEAN...'HOLE?!) source>>

Whatever Russy...Whateverrrrr

Livesteez takes on kazillionaire Hip-Hop Mogul Russel Simmons and his bootleg ass Rushcard. His replies to Livesteez's questions sounds rehearsed/scripted/convoluted at best! Boy, bye!!

Hip-Hop Mogul Russell Simmons has caught some shade lately as it relates to his pre-paid debit card. Some financial bloggers have had more than a few critiques for Simmons Rushcard, labeling it "not a good thing" at best, and "predatory." LIVESTEEZ took a moment to ask the respected entrepreneur a few questions and found that his intentions are far from "predatory," but geared toward a certain demographic that could use the Rushcard for convenience and to build stable credit. In fact, the Rushcard helps a sector of people that are most often overlooked by name brand financial institutions.
http://images-cdn01.associatedcontent.com/image/A2680/26808/300_26808.gif

LIVESTEEZ: As an entrepreneur, you obviously know the importance of assets, be it liquid, material or property ownership. With that being said, how does the Rushcard assist in cardholders foundation and accrual of wealth?

Russell Simmons: The foundation of being able to create wealth is to use your money most effectively. Many people in our communities cannot even get to their money without being subject to overwhelming fees. If you don't have a bank account you pay around 10% of your income in check cashing and bill payment fees. Banks charge overdraft and insufficient funds fees, most of which are paid by underserved communities. Rushcard has no penalizing fees. And Rushcard helps you budget and understand where you're spending money ? both at the foundation of good money management.

LIVESTEEZ: In the U.S. it is a universal standard that that one maintain a certain credit score in order to secure a home or car loan and in many cases residential utility start-up. The "American Dream" is, frankly, acquisition, how does your card ultimately help someone "look good on paper," and build a solid credit history? Does the Rush Card defeat the purpose of credit stability?

Russell Simmons: Rushcard members can build a positive credit file through the Rushcard. Many of our members are shut out of reasonable credit alternatives. With the free RushPath to Credit feature, transactions on the Rushcard are reported to a credit agency. This helps our members get lower cost loans than they would otherwise have been able to. Since we launched this feature last fall, tens of thousands of Rushcard members have signed up for this service and are building a positive credit file.

LIVESTEEZ: Based upon the statement you provided to Black Voices, it sounds like your targeted demographic needs a good credit counseling session or debt consolidation crash course. Why not launch a non-profit credit repair service in the communities that lack basic financial planning knowledge?

Russell Simmons: I'm involved with many non-profit organizations, like the Hip Hop Summit and the Foundation for Ethnic Understanding. The drawback with a non-profit is that you're always dependant on donors for funding. When you're helping the financially underserved, the time when they need help the most (like now) is when donors are least able to provide funding. With a for-profit model, you can help more people when more people need help. This is really working well at Rushcard. I have watched with pride the way RushCard has changed the lives of hundreds of thousands of people giving them respect and dignity.

LIVESTEEZ: As with anything, all good things take time. Why not be the driving force to spark the awareness of the time it takes to financially prepare for the future and the importance of saving? Does the Rush Card defeat this purpose also?

Russell Simmons: I want to make a difference now. I could have kept talking about it and hoped that the institutions which were taking advantage of the underserved would change. Instead I decided to do something about it. I put in my money and time to create Rushcard. Now there is a competitive alternative that is changing the way the underserved are treated. The Rushcard helps people see how they are spending and how their spend compares to their income. This gives them the tools to save money. This is very different from credit cards that reward people to spend and carry balances.

LIVESTEEZ: If people knew the true danger of high interest rates, would you recommend the Rushcard an alternative?

Russell Simmons: People use the Rushcard when they understand the danger of high interest rates. The RushCard is a prepaid card, NOT a credit card. It gives people the convenience of a credit card without the debt or the unfairly high interest charges that banks charge the underserved. There are no finance charges or overdraft fees on the Rushcard and everyone can get one.

Bria's Take on this shit: Rushcard brags about no hidden fees...that's true. They're hoping you are such a label whore, you'd want a black Rushcard or the pink Babyphat Rushcard sooo badly (these are definitely geared towards those who have done NO research on how to better their credit...or who aren't even sure of their credit status) that you'd negate to navigate thru the site and check out the schedule of fees and my notes (in red):

Customer satisfaction is our #1 goal.
Well, if they provide bad customer service you'll cancel the card (if you use your God given sense, you'll still cancel that mess) and you'll cease being pimped.

We want you to use the Prepaid Visa RushCard with confidence in knowing that there are "No Hidden Fees".
Isn't it nice that Russ, Kimora and n'em are looking out for your best interests??

Bria's words: If this is geared to help people, then I also suggest you let Bernie Madoff invest whatever money you have left after paying those ridiculous ass Rushcard fees. If you're low income, can you imagine how fast your check will be eaten up- in fees alone?? My advice, go to the bank open up an account and ask for a debit card-if due to ur credit-ur unable to get a debit card, u'll still be able to utilize an ATM card and depending on the financial institution, your fees (if any) won't be shit compared to the above. After a certan period of time, after your credit score has strengthened you'll be able to get a debit card. Don't believe that bs Russy's trying to shove down your throat. I wonder how many Rushcard customers are even aware of their credit score?? Just bcuz Russy's talking on his low budge commercial DOES NOT MEAN HE'S TALKING TO YOU!! You better recognize...DO YOUR RESEARCH...there are better and CHEAPER ways to better your credit. That card isn't going to help you get a car, or a crib!! I can't stand how the uber rich think they're doing the poor a favor by throwing scraps to the floor...and the scraps aren't even enough to equal a damn crumb!! Get a copy of your credit report, here >>>

Question: WHO DO YOU THINK is benefiting from all of those ridiculous fees?? I rest my frickin case. Do your research people, and stop volunteering to be pimped.

We don't hear this everyday: Man Kills Wife, 2 kids and self ...thank goodness 1 child escaped!!

Here we go again. Selfish ass coward can't find it in his heart to hurt only himself...he has to out the wife and kids too-the youngest being 5 mos old. sigh Fortunately (or unfortunately depending how u look at it) the oldest child (aged 13) was able to escape. unbelievable

(CNN) -- A man shot and killed his wife and two of their children and then killed himself in central Florida on Sunday night, authorities said.

Troy Ryan Bellar shot and killed his wife, Wendy, and two of their children, sheriff's officials say.

Troy Ryan Bellar shot and killed his wife, Wendy, and two of their children, sheriff's officials say.

Troy Ryan Bellar, 34, used a high-powered rifle with a scope to shoot his 31-year-old wife, Wendy, when she tried to leave their home, the Polk County Sheriff's Office said in a statement.

Two of the couple's children -- 5-month-old Zack and 7-year-old Ryan -- also were killed, but a 13-year-old got away, with the father chasing and firing after him, officials said.

"It is beyond my understanding why a man would shoot and kill his 5-month-old baby boy, his 7-year-old baby boy, try to kill his 13-year-old son, shoot his wife and then turn the gun on himself," said Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd. "There is no explanation for that."

The shootings happened in Lakeland, Florida, just east of Tampa.

When the shooting began, the couple's son, Nathan, ran out of the house and down the street -- with his dad chasing him through the garage and firing several shots, authorities said.

Nathan was unhurt and will be placed with family members.

Investigators do not know what led to the shooting, but believe it was preceded by "some kind of domestic disturbance," a statement from the sheriff's office said.

Bellar was arrested twice in Polk County: for aggravated assault in 1994, and for driving under the influence in 1999.

His wife was arrested in March for battery domestic violence.

Black Girl+ Drugs+ Pregnant+ Foreign Country+ Firing Squad-Chances= STILL BETTER than if she lived in AmeriKKKa

UPDATE: Samantha's pregnancy has saved her from the firing squad! source>>

Question: WHERE IS THE ASSHOLE who PERSUADED this stupid ass girl to think this would be a great idea?!!
Here is Samantha, pregnant, dumb as hell (well she's probably bought a clue or two by now-at least I hope so!!), scared to death, brought up on drug charges facing a damn firing squad-where is the MAN who convinced her to do this?? I smell a man all over this! Good thing she's a brit-cuz if she were an african-american and that mess had transpired in America-she'd be through anyway. Now, am I saying Samantha should be absolved of her wrongdoing?? Hell no. Unfortunately, when in Rome your ass is supposed to do as the Romans do-and when you decide to break the law on unchartered territories you- well she's finding that out now!! What with internet on every corner, she should've made it her damn business (she's pregnant for gawd's sake) to find out what the punishment would be should she get caught!! Did she forget she's susceptible to INTERNATIONAL LAW??? I just feel sorry for the unborn child. I'm an impartial critic, ok?? When silly ass American-bred Michael Fay was tearing up people's mailboxes, cars etc in Singapore and the punishment was caning-I said CANE HIS ASS!!

It's sad that Samantha's in this dire situation, but I'm hoping the Court would take her stupidity into consideration or at least the unborn child-esp. in light of the fact Samantha's been locked up for 8 mos., and is FIVE MONTHS pregnant...you do the math, boo!!

Again-she could be getting tried in Amerikka. Anytime you get a life sentence for carrying CRACK ROCKS and receive probabation for powder cocaine...you KNOW you're in a North American Court getting an unfair trial.

Read Samantha's story below...u can't help but shake your head at this mess. source>>

Samantha Orobator, 20, faces a mandatory death penalty on charges of heroin smuggling

Image :1 of 2

A pregnant Briton who could face a firing squad for allegedly trying to smuggle heroin out of Laos will receive a fair trial, the country's Government said — even though she has yet to be assigned a lawyer.

Human rights groups fear that Samantha Orobator, 20, from South London, will not be able to defend herself properly when her trial — which was due to start today, but has been delayed — begins.

Ms Orobator has been in jail in the Communist country since August, when she was accused of trying to smuggle 1.5lb (0.68kg) of heroin in her luggage. Laos has a mandatory death penalty for those convicted of smuggling more than 1.1lb (0.5kg).

Anna Morris, a lawyer with the British-based human rights group Reprieve, said she was concerned that trial would not meet the judicial standards of most countries.

"She hasn’t been appointed a lawyer yet and that has been our concern," Ms Morris said. "We are concerned that any hearing may be quite quick in comparison to what will happen in other countries."

Ms Morris, who has travelled to Vientiane, the country’s capital, has been granted permission to meet Ms Orobator. She said that the group was worried about Ms Orobator's health.

Reprieve says that she is five months pregnant, having been in custody for more than eight months. It could not confirm whether she was raped in prison, and the circumstances of her pregnancy remain unclear.

"We are concerned about the effect of the uncertainty on Sam’s wellbeing ... given her age, her vulnerability, her pregnancy," Ms Morris said. "We just seek clarity from the Laos Government as soon as possible as to what exactly is going to happen so that we can advise her properly."

Ms Orobator had been in jail for months before the British Government learnt of her detention. British authorities have been able to visit her only for 20 minutes, once a month.

The British vice-consul from Bangkok in neighbouring Thailand flew to Laos yesterday to try to see Ms Orobator. Bill Rammell, the Foreign Office Minister, said that he would raise the case with the Laotian Deputy Prime Minister when they meet in Britain on Thursday.

Ms Morris said: "There has been a significant shift in this trial date. We are still unclear as to the reason for that.

"We are working closely with the British Embassy in Thailand and are encouraging them to do whatever is necessary to put pressure on the authorities to ensure her welfare."

A Laotian government spokesman refused to comment on the charges against Ms Orobator, her medical condition or allegations that she was abused in prison.

"The trial is expected to be held this week but I don’t know the exact dates," Khenthong Nuanthasing said, adding that the date was up to the judge. "The trial will be carried out fairly."

Ms Orobator was born in Nigeria but lived with her aunt in Camberwell and Peckham from the age of eight. She left the country to travel to Ireland, the Netherlands and Thailand and is understood to have been arrested in Laos on her way back to Britain.

Phonthong prison, where she is being held, has a reputation for beatings and brutality. Cells measuring 4 sq m house up to six prisoners.

The daily ration reportedly consists of two bowls of pig-fat water soup and a bowl of sticky rice, with most prisoners relying on their families to deliver food. Prisoners have reported incidents of abuse and torture, with some inmates having their genitals burnt.

Since 2003 at least 39 people have been sentenced to death in Laos.

Ms Orobator's mother, Jane, a student at Trinity College Dublin, broke down as she spoke of her fears for her daughter.

"I’m so scared," she said. "I’m just appealing to the British Government, to the Laos authorities, to just please release her. They should just being her back to me. Please.

"I just want them to bring her back to me. I’m really terrified. I have been crying my eyes out."

Mrs Orobator said that she had no idea why her daughter was in Laos last summer and did not believe the news of her arrest. She said that the allegations were out of character for her daughter, whom she described as a quiet, shy, small-built girl who looks like a young teenager.

The director of Reprieve, Clive Stafford Smith, described the legal process in Laos as a farce. "The trial is just being put on as a show," he said. "They wanted to get it all over with before she was able to see a British lawyer.

"She is five months pregnant, without ever having met a lawyer, facing a show trial for her life.

"If this provokes a miscarriage, the Laotians should understand that they have caused the death of this baby. There can hardly be a circumstance where scheduling a capital trial is less appropriate."

Deelishis' 15 minutes of fame is now clocked at 2:13...

I'm not sure as to the reason behind Deelishis peddling her sex tape. Maybe it's about 'creative control' lol who the hell knows. I have to admit, being from Detroit (as is Deelishis) I can't help but wonder when will black celebs put us (Detroit) on the map the way Eminem, Kidd Rock etc does w/out looking damn ridiculus. Deelishis visited a radio station clad in turquoise spandex, with her pretty dimples (on her face cheeks) and was very happy to speak on the reasons for making the tape... boo! If her daughter's not online...her daughter's damn friends are. My gawd...Deelishis you've been out on the scene long enuf to have made some connections so you can make money w/out sacrificing body parts. But hey...niggas will make your ass rich-those singles do add up lol. Somebody's gotta do it, right?? Check out the ass, the dimples and her putting it out there she's got a sex tape. She's such a beautiful woman, I'm not sure why she has to resort to such...antics?? but hey, I don't have to pay her bills. The question that begs asking is, what celebrity DOESN'T HAVE A DAMN SEX TAPE?! I guess it must be a money making industry when celebs are 'leaking' their own tapes. *yawn* I guess. Not very original though-and I doubt if D-list (black) celebs will command a high $$$ in sales. Ray-J was lucky cuz of Kard(ass)ian. Whatev.

Hey, I just thought of another ???...whatev happened to Deelishis' fiancee?? Remember they were making rounds and there were Olan Mills pics her, fiancee and daughters took together?? Remember this cover?? here>>

In the land of Twitterville...

For those who Twitter and are wondering how to build up the # of followers you have this article is an interesting read. There are some Twitterers who take this shit a lil too damn serious-but hey whatever floats your boat. Check out the 2nd article that speaks of a Twitter Quitter study...interesting also.

imageKristi Colvin (@kriscolvin) is a brand builder and product creator who’s passionate about using new technologies, like Twitter, to help people bring their dreams to life. She writes about Twitter at Twitterface.me.

Why IS IT that some people seem to build up followers, have lots of friends, get on some lists here and there of top users and people you should follow, and others don’t, but want to? In a previous post I discussed the 3 ways to use Twitter. This article specifically addresses the “social for business” use for those of us who use Twitter as a promotional tool for any reason. These people first have to be broken into two groups:

  1. Genuine Celebrities (Be They Globally Famous or Merely Geeky)
  2. The Rest of Us

We Have Different Expectations of Celebrities
Celebrities, such as Ashton Kutcher, Demi Moore, Diddy, Martha Stewart, and even noted “tech celebrities” such as Robert Scoble and Guy Kawasaki, have a different experience than most of us, due to the number of people that want to follow them for various reasons or admiration. The Law of Reciprocity may or may not be used by celebs, but they attract plenty of attention anyway. You cannot compare yourself to them. When people find out they’re there, they often gain thousands of followers overnight.

The Rest of Us Are In a Popularity Game
People may not like it, but Twitter is as old-fashioned a popularity game as high school is, IF you want to use it to promote your business, products, services or special causes. It doesn’t matter if you have 50 followers, or 50,000, if you are a non-celebrity (remember, they are differently perceived than you), you will need to have some level of popularity amongst your friends and followers because you cannot extend the reach of your message without these people. By “being popular” I mean, you need to be liked and appreciated. This is not like traditional marketing - this is social marketing and being social requires a lot of interaction with other people. (Celebrities should pay attention to the rest of this article if they want their fans and followers to adore them beyond words. Acts of kindness are doubly appreciated when you admire the person already.)

This isn’t a magic “popularity” ingredient, nor can I ensure you’ll get followers by the droves if you take my advice. This IS however, a philosophical theory that can bring you benefits if you understand it and are able to take advantage of it in your self-promotional efforts.

I am not sharing this because I want everyone to think I have some super-sales twitter tactic for big-time business growth & thousands of followers or whatever the new crop of infamous “twitter marketers” are hawking. I follow lots of people, and I have seen (I think) virtually every kind of attempt to get followers and peddle one’s wares that exists. I see great businesses, big and small, that are sending out their info in an attempt to generate some interest in what they have to offer. And time and time again, I see some methods fail, or worse, suffer backlash from vocal users who like to point out shortcomings in others. I want to help those businesses understand how to use Twitter like I do (because after all, it works for me.)

Understanding The Law of Reciprocity
The simple way to describe the Law of Reciprocity is to equate it to The Golden Rule: do unto others as you would have them do unto you. But most of us were taught that in grade school and it still doesn’t help us win friends and influence people on Twitter! The actual, mathematical theorem depicted at Wikipedia is no help at all (except for you super-smart-geeks!) and what I am talking about is not spiritual in nature, though many students of spirituality and “law of attraction” believers consider this an important aspect of the universal condition.

I have some diagrams here to help illustrate my point. Each little spot on the circles is a “topic” of conversation on Twitter.

What I see companies and self-employed people do on Twitter, all the time, is operate like this circle on the left. They tweet, retweet and link to only that information which specifically talks about their company, a company employee, or company news of some type.

They may be friendly, and branch out a little bit over time, but their circles of interest revolve only around their own product, services, company or cause. I don’t think many businesses realize how this is perceived by others - they don’t necessarily intend to be self-serving only, so this is not a criticism but a different point of view to consider.

Popular (non-celebrity) users, on the other hand, tweet, retweet and link to information of all sorts. If a follower announces they’re having a baby, have graduated college or are getting married, they often excitedly tweet congratulations. They share items of interest that they feel others might like, even if they have no use for them. They participate sometimes in fun and silly games like #FollowFriday (where people make suggestions for people they recommend following) or #80sPhotoWeekend (wherein some of us risked ridicule by posting pics of ourselves that should have gone unseen.) They get into conversations that people are having, debating everything from the state of the economy to the controversial social practices to the best way to tweet. They share opinions, spread good and bad news, help new followers get on board and generally have a good time with the people in their Twitter stream.

“BUT!!!” you might say, “I have no time for this! I am a busy business person who is all about business!” I hear you. I myself am neglecting about 12 other things simply to write this post. We are all busy. But this is NOT broadcast marketing. This is not a radio ad, tv spot, newspaper ad or direct mailer. This is social media marketing, and that takes the one thing we have even less of than we have money… it takes time.

I often refer to “pimping my friends” and have been told I’m an expert schmoozer… much of that is my particular, fairly social personality. I want to share information about the people, company and clients that I care about, but I know some folks don’t understand why they send me direct messages asking me to tweet something, and I ignore it. I do what I can, but can’t tweet things out I have no relation to, sympathy for, understand, or would use myself without seeming, rightfully so, fake. I try to share what I know about in line with the things people know I am interested in, mostly and just remain true to my character about it.

I recommend using Twitalyzer to find out where you stand in terms of being generous with others. If you enter my name, you’ll see I am not scoring very high on “Generosity” because I don’t retweet things as much as others do. Yet, many of my followers perceive me as generous, because they’ve witnessed me trying to help someone else. We all have our own ways of being helpful, but this information is good for me to know because I do in fact, read more links sent out than I retweet. I should step it up a bit and share those more! Seeing me help someone else, or retweet something for someone, creates the goodwill of the Law of Reciprocity - whether I have helped the person observing this or not. This is good to know, but this is where the Law also gets a bit complex. Coach John Agno explains it well at his site:

The law of reciprocity is not what can best be described as “transactional reciprocity.” Baker says that, “Many people conceive of their business dealings as spot market exchanges–value given for value received, period. Nothing more, nothing less. This tit-for-tat mode of operation can produce success, but it doesn’t invoke the power of reciprocity and so fails to yield extraordinary success.”

Baker explains, “The lesson is that we cannot pursue the power of reciprocity. When we try to invoke reciprocity directly, we lose sight of the reason for it: helping others. Paradoxically, it is in helping others without expecting reciprocity in return that we invoke the power of reciprocity. The path to reciprocity is indirect: reciprocity ensues from the social capital built by making contributions to others.

The deliberate pursuit of reciprocity fails, just like the pursuit of happiness. Acts of contribution, big and small, build your fund of social capital, creating a vast network of reciprocity. And so those who help you may not be those you help. The help you receive may come from distant corners of your network.”

In reality, understanding how these dynamics work is just the first part of the challenge. We must genuinely like people to benefit from social media, because if you like someone, your intention is naturally more reciprocal and less self-serving. If you have a bit of an introverted or anti-social personality, this may be hard. If you are very intellectual and suffer from an intolerance of small talk, even harder. It might be a good idea to enroll someone to help you and to tweet on behalf of your business if this is the case. Your spouse, best friend or loyal employee might be able to do a better job than you may with this technology and new way of marketing. Empower them not just to “toe the company line” but to BE social… to chit-chat, to talk about random thing, to share the good news, links and informations shared by others, and to show their unique personalities online.

It is not when you are focused on the Law of Reciprocity that it will work for you - it’s when you’re not. I have literally gone on a mini-Facebook rant and moments later received a direct message from a prospective client wanting to know if my company does social media optimization. I worry about some of the things I tweet because I am highly opinonated, but not too much. Everyday, people both follow me and unfollow me. Focus on getting to know the people who have done you the honor of following you BEFORE talking about your business.

Rather than trying too hard to promote your business, mention it when something appropriate comes up. Talk naturally about your day (a benefit of frequent tweeting) and that will include aspects of your work. Share advice when you see questions. When a need that has to do with your industry is mentioned, you might be the first expert someone thinks of, and you will now be familiar to them so their recommendation will go to you. That’s how it works. It’s not a “tactic”, not a “strategy”, but you, being normal, with strangers in a social space just like you would at a party or public event. But for the Law of Reciprocity to work you have to let go of the controls and rules about how you use this medium.

I have often seen Scott Stratten, aka @unmarketing on Twitter, share something that others retweet when they see it, that sums up this advice in 140 characters:

The Five Steps of Twitter Success: Follow, Reply, Retweet, Share, Repeat

I want to break these down and go into some detail, because a lot of businesses may feel they are doing this already, and don’t understand why it’s not working.

Follow LOTS of people with varying interests… not just the folks that you think will buy what you’re selling.

Reply to anything you see that you have an answer in your head for (within reason.) People LOVE to be acknowledged, and sometimes we put something out we think is funny or interesting or needed and it just falls flat. Reply to people often - it is the only way to truly get to know them and become friends.

Retweet things that both apply and don’t apply to you and your mission. If it seems beneficial to many folks, or it gave you a hearty laugh, those tweets are great candidates for retweets and have nothing to do with your business (but it promotes lots of goodwill!)

Share all kinds of information. If you pick up some things at lunch at the mall because there is an incredible sale, share that - let people know because it might help them too. I often share job information because I have a client in the industry, but mainly because thousands of people are desperate for jobs! I don’t retweet every single thing I see, or share it, but if there is a hot-button issue like that you can share about that helps others, don’t hesitate because it doesn’t seem “on-topic” for your purpose.

Repeat daily and be consistent. Don’t just login to Twitter to promote something and go away. Find the time to work it into your daily routine if you want to use Twitter as a self-promotional tool. How else do you expect people to find you? Twitter by far sends more people to my sites, blogs and information than any search engine or advertising ever has. That is probably because I talk a lot!

Note: this is study was conducted by Nielsen. I'm not sure of the error rate, who was targeted, what's considered a Twitter quitter (stops Tweeting, deletes account, stops following certain Twitters etc) however, the story is still interesting...what are your thoughts??

Twitter Quitters Post Roadblock to Long-Term Growth

Oprah embarrassed herself on it with a stuck caps lock. That guy from Punk’d competed with “the most trusted name in news” for audience. A befuddled Jon Stewart shook his fist at it in anger. Let there be no doubt: Twitter has grown exponentially in the past few months with no small thanks to celebrity exposure. People are signing up in droves, and Twitter’s unique audience is up over 100 percent in March. But despite the hockey-stick growth chart, Twitter faces an uphill battle in making sure these flocks of new users are enticed to return to the nest.

Follow Vs. Follow-through

Currently, more than 60 percent of U.S. Twitter users fail to return the following month, or in other words, Twitter’s audience retention rate, or the percentage of a given month’s users who come back the following month, is currently about 40 percent. For most of the past 12 months, pre-Oprah, Twitter has languished below 30 percent retention.

To understand why this poses a problem for Twitter, check out the chart below. By plotting the minimum retention rates for different Internet audience sizes, it is clear that a retention rate of 40 percent will limit a site’s growth to about a 10 percent reach figure. To be clear, a high retention rate doesn’t guarantee a massive audience, but it is a prerequisite. There simply aren’t enough new users to make up for defecting ones after a certain point.

Maybe we’re jumping the gun. Twitter is still something of a fledgling, and surely some other sites that eventually lived up to Twitter-like hype suffered from poor retention in the early days. Compare it to the two heavily-touted behemoths of social networking when they were just starting out. Doing so below, we found that even when Facebook and MySpace were emerging networks like Twitter is now, their retention rates were twice as high. When they went through their explosive growth phases, that retention only went up, and both sit at nearly 70 percent today.

Twitter has enjoyed a nice ride over the last few months, but it will not be able to sustain its meteoric rise without establishing a higher level of user loyalty. Frankly, if Oprah can’t accomplish that, I’m not sure who can.

Note from Bria: I hold onto the account cuz I have dear fellow bloggers that I speak to in R.T. (not RT) everyday. if it wasn't for them, I promise I'd have deleted the account fairly quickly. Should something better come along and I know it will-I'll delete my Twitter account expeditiously! Also...if you get your updates on your phone-u better have an unlimited text message package, as some Twitters TRULY and DISRESPECTFULLY LOVE to hear themselves talk. It takes away from the Twitter experience.

Why Is Rebellious Ass Brittanee Marie Drexel headline news??

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible with liberty and justice FOR ALL'
if that statement isn't a pile of ish I don't know what is. Liberty and justice for whom?? Non-minorities. why aren't minorities who are missing given the same media coverage?? Why did 2 white teens who beat the hell out of a hispanic man-TO DEATH mind you-GET OFF SCOT-FREE?? I'm not going to jump on a soapbox today, I'm crampy and my damn nosed is stopped up so I'm breathing out my mouth-I got a lot going on ok??

But I can't help but wonder why is a runaway-AND DAMMIT SHE IS A RUNAWAY-garnering so much damn media attention??

Am I missing something?? Why in the hell is Brittanee Marie Drexel headline news?? She's not missing. She took her grown ass to Myrtle Beach after her mother told her to stay her ass at home. Brittanee knows where she is-she's just not telling mama. Why isn't CNN's Nancy Grace covering a story on Chioma Gray who's been missing since December 13, 2007. According to the blog Problem Chylde:

Andrew Tafoya was ALSO listed as missing along with Chioma and he was listed as her companion! Understand family, these are not schoolmates: this is an Adult who has absconded with a child. Andrew Tafoya is a convicted felon who has served time for (261.5pc) Unlawful sex with a minor.

This has NOTHING to do with being Brittanee's concerned parent. Her mother has every right to be sad and PISSED simultaneously, however I think it's sad that certain people are designated more newsworthy over others. Thank GOD for Deidre of the blog Black & Missing. A blog that is 100% dedicated to those who are missing but go unnoticed on mainstream media. Please check out and support Deidre at Black & Missing for the latest update on missing minorities.

NEW YORK (CNN) -- The mother of a 17-year-old girl who disappeared while on spring break in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, has identified her daughter on grainy hotel surveillance video.

Brittanee Marie Drexel's mother on Friday confirmed it was her daughter seen in a hotel surveillance video.

Brittanee Marie Drexel's mother on Friday confirmed it was her daughter seen in a hotel surveillance video.

"When I saw her profile it was confirmed," Dawn Drexel said Friday on "Nancy Grace."

Drexel's daughter, Brittanee, was last seen on Saturday, several days after she traveled to Myrtle Beach against her mother's wishes.

In the video, a girl wearing shorts and flip-flops walks in and later out of the doors of a hotel on Saturday evening. Brittanee Drexel supposedly was on her way to meet friends at another hotel nearby. Video Watch her mom talk about spotting her »

Meanwhile, Myrtle Beach Police reportedly have shifted some search efforts about 40 miles to Georgetown County, based on tips. But there is still no sign of the high school junior from Rochester, New York.

Dawn Drexel said she had forbidden her daughter to go to Myrtle Beach, a popular destination for high school and college spring break. But Brittanee and her friends apparently drove the 850 miles to the coastal city anyway. Drexel said her daughter had about $100 with her.
"We're going to all of the businesses and restaurants on Ocean Boulevard," Drexel said, but she admitted that she is concerned something may have happened to her daughter.

"We're going to all of the businesses and restaurants on Ocean Boulevard," Drexel said, but she admitted that she is concerned something may have happened to her daughter.

"I just have a gut feeling that because the stories don't match, things aren't making sense to me," Drexel said, referring to reported contradictions in the information Brittanee's friends have given police.

Authorities have not named any suspects or persons of interest in the case. source>>

Hey Max! Welcome Back!

I had the pleasure of meeting this amazingly humble man a couple of years back when he was taking a stroll in Birmingham, MI. I give it to him...his bodyguard was on point, thought he was going to clothesline my a$$ lol It wasn't that serious lol I mouthed to Maxwell, 'please, can I just go get a pen??' he nodded and pointed with his head where he could be found. A cute little jeans boutique that no longer exists lol Well lo and behold, Maxwell was there and after he called his Rottweiller (i.e. bodyguard) off of my a$$, he engaged in conversation with me for approx 20 minutes. Yes, he suffers from stagefright. And maybe I could braid his hair one day-no. It was worth asking, lol

Anywayz, I present to you a new video by Maxwell entitled, "Pretty Wings":

Thanks, Quick!

Justice David Souter to retire, accdg to source

http://imgs.sfgate.com/c/pictures/2008/10/19/bu-campaign20_co_0495291019.jpg
Justice David Souter is ready to retire at the end of October 2009. At least that's what all of the reports are saying. This is one justice who managed to stay under the radar, as I've never heard of him. hmph I did a little background check on him, and I thought it was interesting that although former President Bush appointed him, Souter was known to be liberal. Even Sen. Ted Kennedy voted against his appointment.

One thing I liked reading about him, is that he doesn't believe court should be a 3-ring circus. He's not a 'Lights-camera-action-I"m ready for my close-up' kind of judge. He's quoted as saying, '"I can tell you the day you see a camera come into our courtroom, it's going to roll over my dead body." I heard that, Judge!! lol

Did you know, Justice Souter:
  • mountain climbs?
  • was attacked by youths in 2004 while jogging
  • is an eligible bachelor-never married?
  • Writes with a fountain pen, does not email
  • doesn't use a cell phone
  • doesn't utilize an answering machine
  • has no TV
My gawd, I think I'm in love!! lol
