When Waking Up And Smelling The Coffee is a GOOD THING...

If you're a regular reader of this site...then you know how I've felt about Nas and his ignantly titled CD..NIG*ER.

I've written about it
here, here, here, here, here, here, here here and here

The ignorance and audacity behind this publicity stunt just boggles my mind still. However...i have good news according to a post at concrete loop
Nas is CHANGING THE TITLE OF HIS STILL-NOT-YET-RELEASED CD.
*applause*
Since he's abstract and deep, Nas considers his cd as untitled.
He also says people will still know the name of the cd (as Nig*ger) even without it officially being called that. Yeah yeah Nas...whatev.
I'm STILL not buying the CD.

WHEN NI**AS ARE DESPERATE TO FEEL RELEVANT AT ANY COST...SMH

My Twin, One Man is under the weather...I'm picking up the mantle today to showcase NI**AS. sigh...

Taking my cue from my big bro Field Negro, I must delegate the lawn jockey award to a married couple who has truly fallen off. I have no words---y'all know that's a lie...I'll think of something but first:

Buffoonery, and Sambo are adjectives that immediately spring to mind when I think of this "Un" dynamic duo and THE STUNT THEY PULLED AT THE GRAMMY AWARDS, yesterday. This is what happens when insecure people who's records sales decline, bottom out, plummet ____________(insert your own word here), and do not have a plan B. I have accepted the fact these people just don't care. And neither do I. Stop blaming crap on white people...LOOK AT WHAT OUR OWN PEOPLE are doing. smh It's so sad, and disgusting- that's its laughable.

Between Kelis' Solid Gold dancer lame' pants, to the lipstick on her teeth, to Nas-who have just given up hope of striving to be A-list...as long as you know his name, he's satisfied...this couple who was referred to a royalty is now nothing short of JESTERS!!

Judge for yourself:

Yes indeedy, Hotmessness at its finest.
Thanks Nas/Kelis...it would've been a slow Monday...I won't fatten your pockets when that dreaded CD comes out..but you'll DEFINITELY HELP ME GET MORE HITS ON MY BLOG!!
Yeahhh-yeahhhhhhh
:)

NIGGER PLEASE!

I'm with Chris Rock: I love black people, but I HATE NIGGAS (mentality-or lack thereof)!

Our community problem is not ignorant IMUS, OR DOUG CHAPMAN...
it's hot garbage mess such as Nas and his buffoonery!

I don't want to hear a WORD about an ignorant white celebrity, until WE GET A HANDLE ON IGNORANT BLACK CELEBRITIES.

All credibility of him being a "deep intellectual" was ca ca'd on when he shamelessly admitted he was naming his CD, 'Nigger'.
Nas, do you think a b/w pic of you with a newspaper, suited up, in that UNCOMFORTABLY looking chair will make us think differently?!
STOP 'going to the yard' for a doggone 'milkshake' and think about the community...at large. If someone called your daughter A NIGGER, I doubt you'd sit her down for a stimulating conversation on social behaviors. Funny, you don't come across as that type-when it comes to your daughter. You're sending mixed mesags
****

We continue to make Robert "Pisspot" Kelly rich, eventhough he's a perv and not potty trained SmileyCentral.com
You won't be happy til he pisses on your kid but until then you fatten his pockets.

Watch how many stupid people get this man's CD...Nas has to be temporarily insane...if one person come on my blog talking about a prejudice white person...i'm GOING OFF, I PROMISE, i'm GOING OFF.

How about dealing with these black folks and their hatred of self and their willingness to be relevant at any cost???
take care of home first.

I'm so mad, I could piss razors after drinking 2-40oz bottles of rubbing alcohol, while sleeping on barbed wire and hot coals!

Is This A Joke?? Nas' Ni**er CD will be released during Black History Month?!

NAS 'NI**ER' ALBUM PUSHED BACK: Controversial set now due during black history month.
source

*should we be glad it's pushed back, or upset it's scheduled for release during Black History Month??*

*Nas upcoming album "Ni**er," originally due in December from Def Jam, has been pushed back to February for a release during Black History Month, reports MTV News.

Nas said the first single, due sometime in January, is not the recently leaked track "What It Is." In that song, he spits: "Racist neighbors flinchin'/They don't know if I'mma rob them/ Or if I'm Russell Simmons/ They thought it was me, just like Mike Bivens/ They pray for my downfall like the mom of Robin Givens."

Nas told MTV that "What It Is" features vocals he recorded, but the track is from origins unknown.

"I never rhymed to that beat," said Nas.

A final track list for "Ni**er" is still being finalized, his camp told MTV. So far, Atlanta's DJ Toomp (T.I., Ludacris) and longtime Nas collaborator Salaam Remi have contributed beats. Diddy and his new Hitmen are also tapped to donate music before production closes in the next week or so.

Yeah Whatever, Nas

Nas Explains Controversial Album Title, Denies Reports Of Label Opposition
(edited for space, emphasis by Ivent)

story

'We're taking power [away] from the word,' rapper says.
NEW YORK — Nas says you shouldn't believe anything you've heard about Def Jam putting the kibosh on his next studio album. In fact, he insists he hasn't come across any resistance from the label.

The name of the LP has changed slightly, though. He's going all the way there: It's now called Nigger, and it is set to hit stores December 11.

"I don't know where that [report] came from and neither does Def Jam," Nas said early Thursday morning (October 18) in a Manhattan recording studio when asked about a Fox News article published earlier this week. The story quoted a "source close to" label head L.A. Reid, who scoffed at the thought of the company supporting an album with such a title, and also claimed the album was not on the label's release schedule. "None of us knows where that came from."

(At press time, Def Jam representatives had not responded to MTV News' requests for comment.)
The MC said he's just two weeks from completing the LP and has done most of the work with his friend and constant collaborator, Salaam Remi. Diddy, Jermaine Dupri and DJ Toomp are also expected to get in the lab with Nas before he closes out production.

"Salaam — me and him have some real chemistry," Nas explained. "He can go from Amy Winehouse to Spragga Benz to come f--- with Nas. The other cats, some of us have somewhat of chemistry, some of us don't. ... [People] shouldn't trip off the [album's] title; the songs are crazier than the title."

Nigger has caused some strong reaction from civil-rights activists since news of the name hit the masses. The Fox News Web sitesite quoted the Rev. Jesse Jackson and representatives from the NAACP, who admonished Nas for using the N-word as his LP's name.

"I'm a street disciple," Nas responded, quoting one of his earlier album titles. "I'm talking to the streets. Stay out of our business. You ain't got no business worrying about what the word 'nigger' is or acting like you know what my album is about without talking to me. Whether you in the NAACP or you Jesse Jackson. I respect all of them ... I just want them to know: Never fall victim to Fox. Never fall victim to the sh-- they do. What they do is try to hurry up and get you on the phone and try to get you to talk about something you might not know about yet.

"If Cornel West was making an album called Nigger, they would know he's got something intellectual to say," Nas continued. "To think I'm gonna say something that's not intellectual is calling me a nigger, and to be called a nigger by Jesse Jackson and the NAACP is counterproductive, counter-revolutionary."

Nas said he hasn't talked to anyone outside his camp about the title, so he was upset to see that people are up in arms without knowing the story behind him choosing the name.

"I wanna make the word easy on mutha----as' ears," he explained. "You see how white boys ain't mad at 'cracker' 'cause it don't have the same [sting] as 'nigger'? I want 'nigger' to have less meaning [than] 'cracker.' With all the bullsh-- that's going on in the world, racism is at its peak. I wanna do the sh-- that's not being done. I wanna be the artist who ain't out. I wanna make the music I wanna hear.

"We're taking power [away] from the word," he added. "No disrespect to none of them who were part of the civil-rights movement, but some of my n---as in the streets don't know who [civil-rights activist] Medgar Evers was. I love Medgar Evers, but some of the n---as in the streets don't know Medgar Evers, they know who Nas is. And to my older people who don't now who Nas is and who don't know what a street disciple is, stay outta this mutha----in' conversation. We'll talk to you when we're ready. Right now, we're on a whole new movement. We're taking power [away] from that word."

Earlier this year, Nas told MTV News that he wanted to "have fun with the radio" while making his next LP. That was before he settled on the title, though. The album includes ideas and feelings he wanted to express for years that aren't exactly meant to make you dance or sing along in the club.

"Every time I get in the studio, I feel like I wanna have some fun," he said. "My fun is not doing the easy work. My fun is doing what's me. [Radio-friendly songs], that's easy work. My daughter could do that. My daughter could do the sh-- that's out. I wanna do me and hopefully some mutha----as would like it. At this point, I'm looking at the whole world differently. I'm looking at how politics could really be effective for people today, how me as an artist could be more effective. ... I listen to the radio sometime and I like the vibe of that. I go to a club, and my favorite sh-- is Soulja Boy ['Crank That']. I wanna get down with them joints, but ... [my records] do not come out like that."

On November 6, Nas releases his Greatest Hits LP, and he plans to put out Nigger's first single a day or two after that. Despite the absence of a strong marketing push for the upcoming album (you can partially explain that because he's been working on his own and under the radar), Nas isn't stressing. He said he can't wait for some big plans to sell the album. He just wants to get it out there.

"If you feel like doing a record," he started to say about the freedom he has in his career right now, "you can't wait till everybody is ready. I used to wait. Now I have that sh-- in me — where it is, what it is, buy it or don't buy it, it's cool. Whoever likes it, cool. Whoever don't like it, cool — but it's gotta come out now.

"Everybody is caught up on that first-week thing," he continued. "That was cool. In the beginning, you want n---as to know what time it is on the beginning of your sh--. I'm past that. I had humongous first weeks before, gold in the first week, that's not important with me. When you have a record that's out there, people are going to gravitate towards it at some point in time if they like that type of music. My albums will move units, but it ain't based on what type of units they move. I'm thankful I sell records, but it's not about that.

"This Nigger album is bigger than an album. This is for my daughter, when she looks back and sees all the chump n---as in the game, she'll say, 'My pops was a man.' When I have more kids, they'll see, 'He was a man.' That will inspire them to be real in their life. Some people say I'm conscious, some say I'm a gangsta rapper — it's just me doing me. I'm stomping in my own lane. I'm doing what I do."

****
You know what? I do believe there were "street disciples" before Nas came along.
According to Merriam-Webster dictionary "disciple" is defined as:
"one who accepts and assists in spreading the doctrines of another"
source
What doctrine is being spread? that we're idiots, just like bigots said we were?
Nas, and Tupac are/were my 2 favorite rappers (i'm not a connoiseur of rap anymore, my children are) but Nas, and 'Pac will always be #1 with me.
Having said that I don't believe an epithet should OVERSHADOW, what I know is going to be an outstanding CD.
That word isn't allowed to be said in my HOUSEHOLD.
I will not allow it to sit on my CD case. In my opinion, Nas' reasoning, explanation etc sounds convoluted at best, and a bunch of bull crap at worse.
You Better Recognize-I am one consumer who refuses to spend my money on goods, just because someone famous chooses to go out the world backwards.

Protest Nas' Upcoming CD entitled "N***er"-sign the petition!!

Citizens Against the N-word:

Sign the petition (below) expressing your outrage, and disgust towards Nas, L.A. Reid, and Def Jam Records and their decision to release a CD entitled "Ni***r."

When will black celebrities STOP THE INSANITY?? The more the black community attempts to come together as one, i.e., Jena 6, we had those such as Katt Williams wearing a noose as an accessory to an awards show, and now Nasir Jones aka Nas is insistent upon naming his CD, "N***er."

To quote Michael Baisden, famed radio talk show host, what kind of "frackle knackle bull is this?!"

Express your outrage. Be heard, sign below.

These Idiots Don't Belong In My Village!

WHO SAYS NAS' NEW CD WON'T BE NAMED AFTER THE N-WORD?: Rapper has total support of label prez LA Reid.
source
(bold print, added commentary by Ivent)

Apparently Fox news got it all wrong when they reported that the powers that be at Def Jam said the label was not releasing Nas' new project named after the N-word.

Def Jam head, LA Reid, told MTV that he has no problem with the project whatsoever. As far as he's concerned, Nas can do no wrong.

"We support everything our artists do, everything! (L.A. sounds real stupid, that's why these artists are in the state they're in now)" he added. "We stand firmly behind and beside our artists with pride and with pleasure. Anything Nas wants to do, I completely stand beside him. Nas is prolific, he's prophetic, he's a genius, an amazing artist of respect. So, while I'm not sure exactly all that [the title] entails (uhhh, don't you think you ought to find out, Mr. "head of Def Jam?) I know it's smart, so I stand behind him. That's real."

OK, so you may be wondering just why is Nas doing this. The MC says his intent is to take the sting out of the N-word (PLEASE TELL ME...HOW IS THIS GOING TO TAKE THE STING OUT????? THIS IS AN EXCUSE TO SAY THE N***A OR N***ER WORD! WE'RE NOT STUPID! Well MOST of us aren't)

"We're taking power from the word," he told MTV. "No disrespect to none of them who were part of the civil rights movement, but some ... in the streets don't know who (civil rights activist) Medgar Evers was ... they know who Nas is (you fool! so why don't you rap about our predecessors and educate those who are in the streets?!)," the rapper said, referring to the civil rights leader slain in the 1960s.

He also had a message to the "older people" who don't know who Nas is and what a street disciple is.

"Stay outta this (expletive) conversation. (OH NO HE DIDN'T-REMEMBER THIS IS DIRECTED TO "OLDER PEOPLE" WHO DON'T KNOW WHO NAS IS?!) We'll talk to you when we're ready. Right now, we're on a whole new movement (MOVEMENT?! I didn't hear that he was in Jena 6, nor at the Judiciary Committee hearing w/John Conyers, Keith Ellison, Maxine Waters, Al Sharpton etc, is he kidding me?!). We're taking power from that word (hmmm, I'm curious, HOW WOULD U KNOW IF POWER WAS TAKEN FROM THAT WORD?! SMH)."

Finally, not only is the album apparently still in the pipeline for a Dec 11 release, but the title has now been changed from "Nigga" to "Nigger (whew! that was close, they're idiots!)."
****
This whipper-snapper has lost his ever-living-loving-lasting mind!
And the fact that L.A. Reid is behind Nas-who blatantly disrespected older people- and gives carte blanche to his artists to do whatever,
sounds pathetic.
Oh, I get it...the bible says there's nothing new under the sun,
this is a publicity stunt in order to promote the sales of his album, which
is due out Dec 11th~
A blind man can see thru this.
I call for a boycott of his album.
Ignorance, is ignorance.

Yes...WHAT WOULD WAL-MART THINK?!

DEF JAM DENIES 'N-WORD' FOR NAS ALBUM: Source says 'How would that look at Wal-Mart?'
source

*A source close to Island Def Jam Group chairman Antonio "L.A." Reid is now claiming that the new album from Nas will not be called the N-word as the rapper had announced during a concert Friday night in New York.
"There is no album release by Nas on the release schedule at this point," the source told FOX News. "And they would be unlikely to release an album with that title. How would that look at Wal-Mart?"
Before anyone from Def Jam could even address Nas' statement, Rev. Jesse Jackson and the NAACP had already issued comments condemning the artist for the announced title.
"The title using the 'N' word is morally offensive and socially distasteful," Jackson said in a statement. "Nas has the right to degrade and denigrate in the name of free speech, but there is no honor in it. Radio and television stations have no obligation to play it and self-respecting people have no obligation to buy it."
"I wish he would use his talents to lift up and inspire, not degrade, making mockery of racism," he added.
"We will not support and we will not continually be assailed by other individuals who want to use that type of term in our presence" said national NAACP spokesman Richard McIntire, according to Fox News. "This has gone on long enough."

***

I was hoping the record company couldn't be that stupid.

People get upset that Jesse Jackson, and Sharpton are always on TV, but if idiots in our community, would catch, grab, beg, borrow, steal or buy a clue-it wouldn't be necessary. I'm hoping one day...before I die..we as a people can get it together.

I'd even settle for...'on the way to getting it together.'
I just want to say to Nas: NI**A, R U CRAZY?!

Nas, This BETTER Be A Publicity Stunt!

NAS TITLES HIS NEW ALBUM 'NI**A': Name revealed Friday night in New York; rapper says it's due by year's end.
credit: eurweb.com (bold type by Ivent)

Why Nas? Why?! the rapper has decided that the N-word - the five-letter slang version - will be the title of his new album due in December from Def Jam.
The rapper announced the news while headlining the last stop of the Sneaker Pimps Tour on Friday at New York's Roseland Ballroom.
According to MTV.com, he told the crowd that his new album will be titled "Nigga," a name he had planned to call his previous album until deciding at the last minute to use "Hip Hop Is Dead" instead.
A month before the new album arrives, Nas's greatest hits collection is scheduled to drop on Nov. 6. A video for one of the two new songs on the project, "Surviving the Times," will be shot soon, according to MTV.
***

*smh* sigh, The only thing worse than being stupid, idiotic and foolish,

Is the intentional choice to STAY stupid, idiotic and foolish.

I don't know what's going on...Nas WAS one of the most respected rappers ever.

Not any longer.

It could be worse..we could be Kelis and go home to him.

This BETTER be a publicity stunt.

Some people are desperate to stay relevant. Didn't think he was one of them.

Ivent
