People's all-star, pre-Grammy concert with Timbaland ended with a resounding crash this morning (Feb. 9), when the producer/rapper delivered a foul-mouthed tirade against the magazine because some of his friends were apparently left outside the venue.

With a blinged-out cross dangling from his neck, a sweaty Timbaland addressed the crowd at Los Angeles' Avalon Club just after finishing a high energy set with longtime muse Missy Elliott, capping a night of performances from acts such as Chris Cornell, Grammy-nominated band Paramore and OneRepublic in front of a crowd that included Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan and Ludacris.

"Next time I have one of my homeboys in line, let that (expletive) in!" Timbaland shouted as the event winded down after 2 a.m., adding that he was a "peoples person." "I don't like to see my people turned around for some (expletive) magazine ... (expletive) y'all!"

After his tirade ended, he walked off stage with music blasting. The party was effectively over.

A source close to Timbaland who requested anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the situation said the entertainer had been frustrated at what was described as security and production mishaps, and said he didn't mean to lash out at the magazine.

People magazine didn't have an official comment but a source close to the celebrity weekly said they were perplexed as to why Timbaland was upset and that they had considered the event a success. The magazine co-sponsored the party with Verizon Wireless to celebrate Timbaland's deal with the carrier to create a mobile album and content for the network.

Before that, the night was a sea of booze, glitz and lighter vibes, with Elliott wearing a black sweat shirt with "CHING A LING" spelled out in glittering gold letters on the front and a bright gold "MS" ring on her hand.

Elliott led the crowd in singing happy birthday to Timbaland, whose real birthday is in March. Hard-stomping dancers surrounded them. Elliott even joked, "Leave Britney alone! I like Britney," when the DJ started in with a clip of one of Spears' songs while Elliott performed.

Timbaland's discontent, however, could be seen earlier in the evening. As a shaggy-haired Chris Cornell, backed by a full band, rocked out some old hits and a new song in a 1:30 a.m. set, Timbaland stood at the side of the stage with a scowl on his face. But he only had a glowing intro for Cornell, whose upcoming solo album he produced, saying it was "the best" work he had ever done.

Right before he delivered his rant, he threatened to outdo Kanye West, known for his outbursts.

A bevy of other stars, including Jordin Sparks, will.i.am, Fergie and Mario Lopez, flocked to the party, where attendees guzzled beer and vodka and feasted on tiramisu cups and mini burgers in the darkly lit club.

"Hannah Montana" teen phenom Miley Cyrus danced barefoot in front of the stage surrounded by a group of friends.

Just bcuz someone wears a cross (or what appears to be a cross) doesn't mean they're Christian. Many celebrities wear it cuz it's faddish-their boys (girls) are rockin' a cross, so they do too. How many of these rascals have degrading music, but when they win an award they thank God?? The only god who blesses a mind to churn out that trash is the devil himself. Now I'm going to keep it real, ok? I am a proud black woman who has 2-stepped and country line danced to Billy Ray's music. Additionally, besides his gorgeous looks- back in the day (his current Keith Urban & botox makeover leaves a lot to be desired with this sista...JUST SAY NOT 2 BOTOX, Billy Ray!), I liked that I had not heard anything scandalous about Billy Ray. He withstood criticism regarding that mullet of his (honestly, I think he's the only who can get away with said hairstyle), and then he rode off into the sunset quietly.
Having said that-I'm not sure why he's ok with his baby girl being around grown people in this type of atmosphere. Everyone knows where there are celebrities congregated...so are E pills, 'caine and whateva new designer drugs that are avail only to celebrities.
Heck the celebrities are even being accused of Steroids...you don't want Hannah, I mean Miley around that 'roid rage...do you? Better yet-WHERE'S MILEY'S MOM?!

This girl is being set up to end up like 'half-a mind' "British-American" Britney Spears, if someone doesn't put a stop to this Tom (Cruise) foolery... watch.

DETROIT -- Detroit police said they've arrested a man in connection with the beating of his girlfriend's 2-year-old son that was captured on a convenience store surveillance tape.Police spokesman James Tate said the 27-year-old was arrested Friday night at a relative's home after viewers saw his photo on televised news reports. Police had released the tape to help capture him.Tate said the man, whose name wasn't released, could be arraigned as early as Sunday.

The video from Dec. 21 showed a man hitting, kicking and stepping on a child over a four-minute span. He also is seen hitting the child with a cooler door and pauses when other customers walk nearby.Tate said investigators were assured by the boy's relatives that the child was OK. ********** ***UPDATE #1*** Way To Go Detroit Citizens and Detroit Police!! OCEAN ISLE BEACH, N.C. (Oct. 28) - An intense fire ravaged a beach house packed with college students early Sunday, killing seven and leaving little left of the structure but its charred frame and the stilts on which it stood.

Six survivors were hospitalized and released, including one who jumped from the burning home and into a waterway, Mayor Debbie Smith said. The cause was being investigated.

"There were three kids sitting on the ground screaming," said newspaper deliverer Tim Burns, who called 911 after seeing a column of smoke rising from the house. "There was one guy hanging out the window, and he jumped in the canal. I know he got out because he was yelling for a girl to follow him."

Burns said he didn't know whether that girl was able to escape.

Officials at the University of South Carolina said six of the students who died were from the school in Columbia; the seventh attended Clemson University. The six who survived were also from USC. The private home was being used by the owner's daughter and a group of her friends, Smith said.

"These are young people in the prime of their life," USC President Andrew Sorensen said at a news conference. "They had so much to look forward to, and it's just profoundly tragic."





Students will have access to counselors, residence hall advisers and clergy members, Sorensen said. Classes will be held Monday.

Dennis Pruitt, dean of students, said the fire appears to have affected two Greek organizations — the Delta Delta Delta sorority and the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. Earlier in the day, a campus minister at the sorority house declined to comment, as did an adult who answered the door at the fraternity house. Messages left with the national headquarters of the organizations were not immediately returned.

The fire struck sometime before 7 a.m. and burned completely through the first and second floors, leaving only part of the frame standing. The waterfront home — named "Changing Channels" — was built on stilts, forcing firefighters to climb a ladder onto the house's deck to reach the first living floor. Smith said the house was a total loss.

"We ran down the street to get away," said Nick Cain, a student at the University of North Carolina who was staying at a house about 100 feet away. "The ash and the smoke were coming down on us. We were just trying to get away."

Cain was one of the dozens of college students who filled at least four houses within a block of the burned home. Neighbor Jeff Newsome said the students were going back and forth between the houses all weekend long.

"We didn't have any big complaints," Newsome said. "The lights were on all night. They were having a good time."

Winds blowing flames over the water, and not toward any of the other residences on the tightly packed row of vacation homes, kept the fire from spreading. The intense heat kept Burns and others from attempting a rescue, although he said he had to fight to keep several of those who escaped from trying. When he approached the front door, he said, it was too hot to open.

"When I was going up to the entryway, you could hear the windows above me explode," Burns said. "When I knew the flames had taken over, I don't think I've ever felt as helpless in my life."

Some of the people in the house had been friends since high school, said Rick Wylie of Greenville, S.C., who identified his son Trip as the young man who jumped from the burning home.

"He's in shock," Wylie said. "It's just an incomprehensible thing for these parents."

Authorities erected a blue tarp to block the view of the fire scene, but neighbor Bob Alexander said he saw investigators removing bodies from the remnants of the home early Sunday afternoon.

"It's terrible to see somebody's children come out of that house this way," Alexander said.

The victim's bodies were to be taken to the state medical examiner's office in Chapel Hill. Authorities from the State Bureau of Investigation and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are leading the investigation, said Randy Thompson, Brunswick County's emergency services director.

The home had working smoke detectors, Smith said.

Ocean Isle Beach is at the southern end of North Carolina's Atlantic Coast, about 30 miles north of Myrtle Beach, S.C. Only about 500 people live there year-round, but the town is home to several thousand rental and vacation homes and condos.

The burned home sits on one of a series of peninsulas, all tightly packed with homes, that are about two blocks from the beach and connect with the Intracoastal Waterway.

OUTRAGE LEADS TO CANCELATION OF 'LIGHT-SKINNED' NIGHT: After backlash, host says 'I made a mistake.'

A Detroit-based DJ and party promoter met with an avalanche of furor when he tried to sponsor a party that would allow only "light-skinned" black women into the club for free.
Word of the party's shade-based policy quickly spread across the Internet and soon, irate folks were bombarding the party's promoter, Ulysses "DJ Lish" Barnes, with angry calls and emails.
"I made a mistake," Barnes told the Detroit News. "I didn't think there would be a backlash."
Needless to say, Barnes – an African American who describes himself as a "dark-skinned" – canceled the event after witnessing the size of the uproar.
"I didn't mean to offend anyone," he said. "I had planned a party for other shades (of black women). We were going to take a shade of color each week. Next week was going to be a party for 'Sexy Chocolate' and the week after that 'Sexy Caramel.'"
Black blogsites quickly joined the chorus of boos, with some urging a boycott of the party and filing a lawsuit against the party's promoter.
A Los Angeles-based activist who goes by the name of Pearl Jr. was able to reach Barnes on the phone and explain to him the historical pain behind his actions.
"I had a good conversion with him and he understood," said Pearl Jr., founder of the Black Women's Movement in Los Angeles and the author of the book "Black Women Need Love, Too."
"Ignorance can't always be an excuse," she told the Detroit News. "Colorism is real in the black community. It's especially very degrading to dark-skinned black women."
The party's discriminating tone harkens to the day of the "brown paper bag test," which compared the complexions of blacks to a brown grocery bag before they could be admitted to social clubs and affairs, said Pearl Jr.

I'm not worried about nooses from non-blacks, i'm worried about nooses that my community has. Hatred for one another, abuse, addictions, racism (by the community TOWARDS the community)

Being from Detroit, I'm not sure what made him think that would be alright with everyone.

Insult Fueled Deputy's Rampage at Party

CRANDON, Wis. (Oct. 8) - A young sheriff's deputy who opened fire on a pizza party and killed six people reportedly flew into a rage when he was rebuffed by his old girlfriend, and others at the gathering called him a "worthless pig."

Tyler Peterson, in a high school yearbook photo before he became a sheriff's deputy, was described as an "average guy" by one person who knew him. Now he is dead after going on a deadly shooting rampage Sunday.

A longtime friend told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel on Monday that 20-year-old Tyler Peterson came to his door in the hours after the rampage and calmly explained what he had done.

"He wasn't running around crazy or anything. He was very, very sorry for what he did," Mike Kegley told the newspaper, adding that he gave Peterson coffee and food and later called 911.

Peterson told Kegley that he had gone to his ex-girlfriend's house early Sunday morning in hopes of patching up the relationship after a recent breakup. But, he said, Peterson lost control when the meeting ended in an argument and other people started ridiculing him as a "worthless pig."

Kegley declined to comment when reached by The Associated Press. Police, who declined to provide details of the argument, said Peterson stormed out, retrieved an AR-15 rifle from his car outside and burst back into the house firing 30 shots that killed all but one of the people at the party.

"We had no idea, obviously, that anything like this would ever occur," Crandon Police Chief John Dennee said at a news conference Monday. Peterson, a deputy and part-time police officer, later died after exchanging gunfire with law enforcement officers.

Whether Peterson was shot by police or took his own life was unclear. The rampage raised questions in the remote northern Wisconsin community of 2,000 about how Peterson could have met requirements to become a law enforcement officer, especially after police acknowledged Monday that Peterson received no psychological screening before he was hired. Some questioned the wisdom of hiring someone so young.

"No person that I've ever known at 20 years old was responsible enough to be a police officer," said Steve Bocek, of Oak Creek, whose nephew Bradley Schultz was killed. "It's unbelievable. You don't have the mind to be a police officer. It takes a lot."

But Crandon city attorney Lindsay Erickson said age doesn't matter as long as officers do their jobs well. Peterson testified for her in several cases. He wrote good reports and was "true to his job," she said. "From what I saw of him, I didn't see any warning signs or red flags,"

Erickson said. Peterson was hired as full-time deputy sheriff on Sept. 11, 2006, at the age of 19, according to personnel records released by the Forest County clerk. His yearlong probation ended last month.

Dr. Phil Trompetter, a police psychologist in Modesto, Calif., estimated at least 80 percent of states require psychological testing of prospective officers.

"Wisconsin must be in a very small minority of states," he said. The Wisconsin Department of Justice Law Enforcement Standards Board requires only that applicants be free of any emotional or mental condition that might hinder them in their duties. It does not say how that is determined.

No formal national standards exist for hiring police, although individual states are adopting requirements such as mandatory psychological tests, said Craig Zendzian, author of several guidebooks for police applicants.

In Minnesota, for example, police officers must be licensed by the state Board of Peace Officer Standards and Training - a process that includes an evaluation by a licensed psychologist.

At the news conference, which gave the most detailed explanation yet of the shooting , the police chief said Peterson and the young woman had been in a relationship for a few years. "They had broken up and gone back and forth," Dennee said.

After the attack, in phone conversations with the police chief and others, Peterson identified himself as the shooter, authorities said.

The rifle used in the shootings is the type used by the sheriff's department, but investigators had not confirmed whether the gun came from law enforcement.

The six young people killed in the rampage were either students or graduates of Crandon High School. They were at the house to share pizza and watch movies during the school's homecoming weekend. Classes were canceled Monday, and many teens went to a church to meet with counselors.

The other victims were identified as Jordanne Murray, who was believed to be the girlfriend; Katrina McCorkle; Leanna Thomas; Aaron Smith; and Lindsey Stahl. Autopsies were scheduled to be completed Monday, but results were not immediately available.

Schultz, 20, was a third-year criminal justice major at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee who hoped to be a homicide detective. He was home visiting friends and appeared to have died trying to protect one. "We still don't have many details, but from what they've told us, there was a girl next to him and he was covering her, protecting her," said an aunt, Sharon Pisarek, as she sobbed. "He was loved by everybody. He was everybody's son. Senseless."

The lone survivor, Charlie Neitzel, 21, of Pickerel, was upgraded to serious condition and was improving Monday at a hospital.

Pastor Bill Farr read a statement from Peterson's family in which relatives expressed their shock and sorrow. "Our hearts go out to the victims, their families and their friends. We are grieving for your losses. We feel a tremendous amount of guilt and shame for the acts Tyler committed," it said.

It continued: "We may never receive the answers we all seek. Like those close to Tyler we are in shock and disbelief that he would do such terrible things. This was not the Tyler we knew and loved."
