Rapper Queen Pen is singin' the blues...

Is This What U Put Up With When The Checks Stop Comin' In??

Eurweb.com has reported rapper Queen Pen (Lynise Walters) has been beaten by her bf (who's on the run at the time of this post) in FRONT of her children.
No, it's not cool to be beaten behind kids' backs either...my point is the trauma these kids have experienced witnessing this abuse 1st hand.
KENDALL WICKER also broke her grammy award.

I'm not sure which road to take...be pissed off at this bully for punching her in the face so bad 3 mos that she needed oral surgery, trashing her apt, throwing a brick thru her car's windshield and threatening to kill her (I'd say he'll probably make good on this threat if he's not caught) or be PISSED AT QUEEN PEN for staying in such a relationship...esp after blowing her grill out to the point of surgery???

What is it goin to take for women to get a grip, and get outta there by any means necessary??? I don't care if its baby daddy, husband, first love, college sweetheart ...if he's WHOOPIN' ur behind, trust...the feelin's not mutual towards you.
My son lives by this saying:
'I'd rather die like a man, than live like a coward'

I agree. I'd rather die doing what's best for my children than live in fear doing nothing. Is it ez? No. but it is possible.

Queen Pen need to get it 2gether, and rescue those children before the next incident ends no so nicely.

I'm not sure if everyone's aware of Aretha "Ree-Ree" Franklin's elevation to Emperess, so I wanted to do my share in spreading the news.
If you or a loved were unawares of this new promotion, please take a minute to get all of the pertinent details, and spread the word.
I'm sure the Queen, i mean Emperess (this will take some getting used to, indeed) Franklin will appreciate it!

Big Pimpin' Papa Knowles Says, Oh No She (Aretha) Didn't! {not really, but I know he felt like saying it!}

Beyonce's Dad Weighs in on 'Queen' Flap

NEW YORK — Beyonce's father says Aretha Franklin's criticism of his daughter for referring to Tina Turner as "the Queen" at the Grammys is "ridiculous."

On Tuesday, the Queen of Soul let everyone know her royal feathers were ruffled when Beyonce called Turner "The Queen" before their joint performance Sunday at the Grammys. Franklin, who also performed at the ceremony, was sitting in the audience: Beyonce did reference her along with other top female singers before introducing Turner.

"I am not sure of whose toes I may have stepped on or whose ego I may have bruised between the Grammy writers and Beyonce," Franklin said in a statement issued by her publicist. "However, I dismissed it as a cheap shot for controversy."

However, in an interview with CelebTV.com posted Wednesday, Matthew Knowles, Beyonce's father and manager, said: "I am not taking something this ridiculous to Beyonce. Beyonce referred to Tina Turner as a 'queen.' Not queen of gospel, queen of soul, queen of blues,

Queen of England. I consider my wife a queen and sometimes call her that. Does Aretha have a problem with that?"

Beyonce's representative did not respond to a request from The Associated Press seeking comment.

An e-mail request for comment from Franklin's representative was not immediately returned. However, in her statement on Tuesday, Franklin made clear she wasn't holding a grudge toward Beyonce, ending her statement by giving the Grammys thanks and "love to Beyonce anyway."

For Kicks And Giggles...

I paid a visit to a blogger who visited me, and before I could post my comment...I was struck by a Naomi Campbell commercial she was talking about...I'll be back, let me see if fellow blogger gives her name ( 3 minutes later)--ok, I'm back. Well, her blog is entitled The True Urban Queen...and that's the only name that is emblazoned on her blog. That title is polysyllabic, therefore I dub her T.U.Q. ( "Tuck") . I simply went to reciprocate her visit...but upon reading her blog, it seems TUQ and I have some definite commonalities: working on 1st novel (so am I), has two children (so do I), love high heels (so do I), believes men/children ages a woman-no disrespect to either class (but so do I), was horrified when she saw a pic of Jasmine Guy-who did not age gracefully, God bless her (me too!), don't agree with Naomi Campbell's antics-but dig her anyway (me too!). Anyhoo, needless to say I have to add TUQ to my blogroll.
Oops, I've digressed enough...here's the Naomi commercial I was talking about--F.Y.I. Naomi will be 38yrs old in May 2008 (laughing so I don't cry):

You Go, Nay-Nay!!

This video was klept'd from T.U.Q.

Queen? Is that you?!

A couple of days ago on my way to work...I was listening to the Steve Harvey Morning Show ">Steve Harvey Morning Show, and I caught the tail end of an interview with Queen Latifah. Her new cd is called "Trav'lin Light."

*sidebar-Now, I'm all about one being an entrepeneur and establishing an empire, building a legacy etc, but I hadn't embraced Queen Latifah (aka Dana Owens) as a singer. I just couldn't get into her do-wop-woppin. Not my cup of tea. Now...I can..U-N-I-T-YYYYYYY, U-N-I-T-Y that's a unity.... all day long. I just wasn't feelin her as a singer, remember her debut on Living Single? It was ehhh, ok.

(Back to my scheduled posting)...I did not take her seriously as a singer until...that song. My goodness, Steve Harvey played Queen's song entitled "Simply Beautiful" ft Al Green. Ok, on this day, the 27th day of September 2007, I have officially certified Queen Latifah as a singer. It is, for lack of better words, Simply Beautiful!

Several times during the song her voice strained, but instead of wincing, you felt her as she was attempting to convey the love she has inside into words for those on the outside. She has matured and grown as a singer. On a scale of 1 to 5 *****, I give Queeny (remember Crooklyn?) 4 **** . If "Simply Beautiful" is an indication of things to come on that CD, Queen Latifah will be touring soon! Do NOT sleep on this CD. Classy all the way.

*sidebar #2*- 1. The older that chile gets, the more she looks like her daddy! Her father played in Beauty Salon (believe that's the name of the movie), and he was sitting in her chair...can't miss him, they look like twins!

and 2. I'm not trying to name drop or anything, but I did have the pleasure of meeting Queen Latifah in a club moons ago, and suffice it to say she was truly just as gracious in real life as she portrays herself in media. She was pleasant engaged in conversation, and was very amicable.

(back to my scheduled posting) Now family, it's late and my eyes are burning but I must repeat, get Queen's CD entitled "Trav'lin Light" and let me know what you think. it's a nice cd to listen to, especially when you're trying to listen to something soothing instead of crickets! haha. keep it real in the Village and don't mind our idiot (like y'all don't know any)-that's just Mooky -he's harmless!

Fam-you betta recognize....Queeny is sangin' now!

Ivent!
