Sweet Georgia Brown

NAL Trade, January 2, 2008
$13.95 US; ISBN: 0451222288

Meet Georgia Brown-a humble housewife determined to become a household name….

After eleven years of marriage, Georgia Brown is fed up with her husband, Marvin, a popular radio personality. It’s not just because she suspects he’s having an affair, or because she’s suddenly expected to raise his thirteen-year-old daughter, Chloe-whom she never even knew existed. It’s because of the comments he makes about her weight, their marriage, and their sex life…on national radio! Now, to save their marriage, Marvin invites Georgia to the station for an on-air rebuttal . . . .

*****

I was invited today to participate in the SWEET GEORGIA BROWN: Humble Housewife 2008 Virtual Book Tour. Cheryl Robinson, the author of this exciting new release has me the question, “If I was in her humble housewife, Georgia Brown’s shoes, what would my on-air rebuttal be?”

Here's My Rebuttal:

He knew I was in the building, because my Clinique Aromatics Elixir Perfume was my calling card. Like an old decrepit broke down horse on its way to becoming glue, I decided to put that sorry-excuse-for-a-husband of mine out of his misery. I not only showed up, I also I showed out. And baby, I gave showin' out a new meaning.

Listening to the show while walking down the hall, I heard Marvin stutter. Not once, not twice, but three times. Nervous are you, Marvin? Good.

"...ha ha ha, yo-you-you'll see what I mean when she-she arrives. You'll see I'm not uhhh ly-ly-, uhh exaggerating." Marvin said while nervously looking around.

"Are you alright Marvin? You don't look so good." Observed his newest and youngest co-host to date, Alexis.

"St-stay in a child's place, Alexis. You will speak when I tell you to."

"Look, I may be young, but you will not treat me the way you treat, Geogia. I'm not your wife and you better remember that." Alexis shot back.

"Oh, I-I know you're not Georgia-

"Did someone call my name?" and Georgia entered the nondescript, stifling room, that launched 'Marvelous Marvin."

Silence.

Exchanged glances.

"Who are you?!" asked a shocked Alexis.

"Hi, how are you? And in answer to your question, I'm the wildebeest of a wife that Marvin speaks of so often. Ergo, I'm the reason you have a job young lady." Georgia offered with the confidence of a corporate raider.

"No. Uh-uh. You're not Marvin's wife. Marvin made you sound like Roseanne Barr, or that "Cat lady" Jocelyn Wildenstein. You look as if you belong in Upscale Magazine, or better yet, Vogue Magazine." Noting Georgia's stylishly sleek bob haircut, that's eerily reminiscent of her favorite singer, Rihanna. Uh-uh are those the brand new Baby Phat pumps she has on? I won't be able to have those shoes in my closet until next year-when they're out of style! Who is this woman?

Alexis looks at Marvin, who only has eyes for Georgia.

"Marvin, I thought you said-" was all Alexis could say before she was cut off.

"Georgie...I knew you were," Marvin said just above a whisper.

"Excuse me, Marvin? Please repeat yourself, you are a bit incoherent." commanded Georgia with the confidence of someone who had three bulls by their six horns.

Clearing his throat, Marvin repeated louder, " I knew you were here-I smelled you."

Knowing full well what he meant, Georgia couldn't resist the dig," Why Marvin, that's the nicest thing you've said to me in, hold on a moment..." counting on her fingers, "5 years, ha ha-I'm shocked and appalled."

"But-"

Before Marvin could finish, "Let's get this party started shall we? Someone come and take my coat." Tracy, the intern helped Georgia out of her coat, and lingered long enough to compliment her on her black St. John Santana suit with the flared skirt.

"Thank you uhh, what's your name?" Geogia asked the intern.

"You've lost weight, Georgie." Marvin interjected.

He sounded like a lost puppy.

All business, Georgia replied," Oh. That. Glad you noticed, Marvin. I lost 65lbs, SEVEN months ago, but you know what they say, 'better late than never,' right?

"right." Marvin said quietly.

"Tracy-" said the intern.

"Excuse me sweetheart?" giving attention to Tracy.

"Tracy, my name's Tracy."

"Oh yes Tracy, thank you sweety for the compliment, and remember with hard work and a checking account-and good credit, you'll be able to enjoy the luxuries life has to offer you, too." Georgia advised.

"Doesn't that mean you must be on the payroll making money in order to get a checking account?? I've been told for two months I would be added to payroll, and I'm still waiting." Tracy complained, with the obligatory pout.

"Oh really?" Asked Geogia, while looking at Marvin.

"What??"Marvin asked guiltily.

Shaking her head, Georgia rifles through her purse in search for her classic Coach wallet. Retrieving a card, she gives it to Tracy...

"What are you doing?!" cries out Marvin.

"30 seconds before showtime-"

"Offering Tracy a job."

"Thank you, Mrs. Brown-"

"Call me, MS. Brown-"

"MS. Brown?? Georgia, I'm your husband and we have to talk."

"20 seconds-"

"Oh my goodness, thank you Mrs., I mean MS. Brown," Tracy says excitedly while handing Georgia the headphones she'll need this morning.

"Correction. You're my husband FOR NOW. The only talking from here on out, will be between our lawyers. Capiche?" warned Georgia.

"What in the hell is going on?" asks Alexis, completely perplexed.

"Shut up, Alexis-"

"15 seconds-"

"You have one more time to tell me to shut up, Marvin-"

"SHUT UP, Alexis-"

"That's it!" and Alexis lunges across the soundboard. But before she could claw Marvin's face, Tracy grabs her.

"10 seconds,"

"Alexis, if you plan to work for me you must get your emotions in check."

"Marvin is a bully, he's a thoughless pig, and he alway- what?" Grasping Georgia's words finally.

"5 seconds-

"Meet me at my office tomorrow with Tracy,"

"4-

"You have a deal."

"3-"

"See you in the morning"

"2-"

"I'll be there."
"1-"

Showtime.

When it was all over, and the dust cleared-Georgia was the winner by a TKO-technical knock out. Those present weren't sure if it was Georgia's newfound attitude and makeover, the photos of Marvin engaged in sexual activities with his dope dealer- who is male-in exchange for drugs, the two callers who identified themselves as Marvin's girlfriends and used more profane words towards each other than 6 sailors who stumped their baby toe in the dark, Marvin's embezzling scheme to the tune of $500,000, or First Lady of Detroit, Carlita Kilpatrick-who was Georgia's featured guest on Marvin's show, announcing her impending divorce from Marvin's best friend and co-womanizer Detroit Mayor, Kwame Kilpatrick-in addition to being Georgia's co-host on her radio show. It may have been the bomb Chloe dropped on Marvin, stating her Biology honors teacher, Bradley Garrison, who also owns a successful consulting firm, has confessed his love for Georgia, and promised to be the father Chloe needs, and the husband her mother, Georgia, deserves.

It is said all of the above contributed to Marvin's stroke. He is paralyzed on his left side and unable to speak, and has no short term memory.

The doctors said they could not promise Marvin would ever be marvelous again, but who knows what the future holds. That was 3.5 yrs ago. I remain hopeful, therefore I still pray for Marvin. I wish him no ill will.

Sigh.

As I think about the last 4 years of my life, it's hard to believe I made it through it all the hurt, and betrayals. But with the love of my husband, Brad, I truly know what unconditional love is.

Looking out of Marvin's bedroom window in the convalescent home, I think back on Bigma's words, attempting to understand their impact upon my life.

"Are you ready, baby?"

"Huh, oh hi honey, I was just thinking about the past...I didn't know you were here."

"Baby, the past is just that. The past. Let's think about our bright future together. And speaking of future, we have to pick up our daughter Breeanna, from my mother's. Breeanna wants her mommy-they don't call them "terrible 2's" for nothing!' Brad said with a hearty laugh.

"You're right! When Breeanna Garrison talks, EVERYBODY listens."

Laughter was heard down to the hospital elevators.

It is true, Bigma:

God don't like ugly.

Kanye's Really Going to be a Hot Mess Now!

Donda West, mother of Kanye, dies source

Donda West died Saturday night in Los Angeles, said the spokesman, who asked for anonymity because not all family members had been notified.

"The family respectfully asks for privacy during this time of grief," the spokesman said.
A cause of death has not been released.

Donda West was known for the strong bond she shared with her son, by whose side she was often seen at parties and award shows.
In May, she published the book "Raising Kanye: Life Lessons from the Mother of a Hip-Hop Star," in which she paid homage to her famous son.

Donda West served as chief executive of West Brands LLC, the parent company of her son's business enterprises, and as chairwoman of the Kanye West Foundation, an educational nonprofit that works to decrease dropout rates and improve literacy.

She worked in higher education for 31 years, before leaving academia in 2004 to help manage her son's career, according to a biography on the Kanye West Foundation's Web site.
She began working at Chicago State University in 1980 and eventually chaired the school's English department, according to the site. She started her teaching career in the early 1970s as an instructor at Brown College in Atlanta.

Sadness.
Prayers goes out to the West family, and I pray a counselor is dispatched at Kanye's side 24/7 and remove all sharp objects, projectiles & firearms.
He already is half-cocked, this is just the thing to take him over the edge.

She was a classy woman.

Ole School "Bad Boy" Norman Mailer...In Heaven Causing More Controversy!! :)

Goodbye, Norm!
Whether you loved, or hated him Norman Mailer could care less.
The famous or infamous (depending on the perspective) author Norman Mialer has died at the age of 84, of kidney (renal) failure.

Known for not kowtowing to society's expectations, Norman was a man of total unexpectation.

He was a brawler, drank, smoked weed, married 6 x's-stabbing wife #2 almost fatally, had 9 children, refused to use a computer-writing with a pen 1500 words/day.
Because of his staunch position against women's lib--he was known as " the ultimate chauvinist pig."

Mailer's greatest literary work (according to some) was called "The Naked and The Dead" which was based on his experience in the army, and was a bestseller at the age of 25.

The literary world will never be the same without hellcat Norman Mailer.

*UPDATE*-Like Silence of The Lambs...

Suspect says he killed, not ate, his girlfriend

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - A Mexican writer suspected of frying and eating pieces of his ex-girlfriend after strangling her has confessed to murdering the woman but denies being a cannibal, a government prosecutor said on Tuesday.
Police burst into Jose Luis Calva's Mexico City apartment last week and found fried human flesh on a dining table set with cutlery. They found more flesh in the refrigerator and an unfinished book by Calvo called "Cannibal Instincts."
The mutilated body of Alejandra Galeana, 32, was in the bedroom closet.

Calva told prosecutors he killed Galeana after an argument, then cut an arm and a leg off of her body so that he could dispense of it in parts.
"He denies having tasted her flesh," Mexico City's chief homicide prosecutor Gustavo Salas told reporters. "According to him, he thought it was better to cook the meat so he could feed it to the dogs."

Prosecutors also suspect Calva of strangling and dismembering two other women in the last two years. One victim, Veronica Martinez, had lived with Calva before her death.

Calva denied any involvement in those crimes.
Galeana's mother had reported her missing for two weeks and said she suspected her daughter's former lover was involved.

Calva kept books on black magic and apparently made a living selling his writings on the street. He was injured falling from his balcony when he tried to escape police as they forced their way into his apartment.

Police found copies of the Hannibal Lecter films, which tell the tale of a genius serial killer who eats his victims.

A former girlfriend told police Calva was a jealous, possessive lover who believed in witchcraft and practiced rituals, including hammering a cow's tongue to a board.

***

I'm sure her mother will sleep knowing he ONLY KILLED HER and didn't digest her.

He is crazy...i plead the blood of Jesus over this post, just knowing he was into witchcraft. I pray that he comes to repentance (by power of Holy Ghost) and comes to know Jesus for himself...God is still able to make him a new creature.

The devil is a lie!

Like "Silence of the Lambs" in REAL LIFE **warning graphic details**

Mexican cops arrest cannibalism suspect **graphic**

source: Yahoo! News, AP (emphasis by Ivent)

MEXICO CITY - An aspiring horror novelist was arrested after police discovered his girlfriend's torso in his closet, a leg in the refrigerator and bones in a cereal box, the city prosecutor's spokesman said Thursday, and police suspect he may have been responsible for two other mutilation murders as well.

Jose Luis Calva pic told police he had boiled some of his girlfriend's flesh but that he hadn't eaten it, the spokesman said, speaking on customary condition of anonymity. He said investigators were trying to determine if the chunks of fried meat found in a pan in the apartment were human.

The spokesman also confirmed other details about the crime scene released by the prosecutor's office Wednesday night: that body parts were spread throughout the apartment, and that Calva is being investigated in a total of three killings of women whose mutilated bodies had been found in and around the capital.

Calva told police he was a writer and poet — officers found the draft of a novel titled "Cannibalistic Instincts," the spokesman said.

Calva tried to escape when officers entered his apartment, but was struck by a car and had not yet recovered enough to give a statement to police, according to the prosecutors office. He was still hospitalized on Thursday, the spokesman said.

Police had come to Calva's apartment Monday to investigate the disappearance of his girlfriend, Alejandra Galeana, a 30-year-old pharmacy clerk and single mother. Her family had reported her missing on Friday and told police of her relationship with Calva, according to the prosecutor's office.

Galeana's dismembered body was discovered in a closet; a leg and flesh from an arm were in the refrigerator, and arm bones were inside a cereal box, the prosecutor's office said.

Calva also is being investigated in the mutilation killings of an unidentified prostitute in April and an ex-girlfriend, Veronica Martinez — also a single mother and pharmacy worker — whose dismembered body was found in 2004, the prosecutor's office said.

After his arrest was shown on television, Martinez's mother went to police saying Calva had also been her boyfriend, and showed officers a picture of them together. Her daughter's body was found chopped to pieces on the city's outskirts, the prosecutor's office said.

Neighbor Fermin Cruz, 41, lived several floors below Calva, and said he "seemed ill humored at times," adding, "one time he slammed the door on me."

"Out of the Mouths of Babes: Spiritual Insights for Practical Living" is a book that highlights the power of words.
It reveals how two little boys force their mother to take deep self-inventory and face, head-on, the many challenges she encounters.
In thoughtful, insightful, yet humorous language, author Kimberly K. Parker transparently exposes her life experiences in hope of transforming others.
With gentle, yet direct suggestions, Parker encourages readers to listen to children and learn from them for she believes without doubt that they are our greatest teachers.

**************
Amen for Kimberly Parker, for humbling herself and seeing the gifts her children are. Speaking from personal experience, my two children were instrumental in the relationship my mother and I now have-it'll be 1 year December 2007. No one wants to receive truth from their children, it's human nature. However, how dare we - stinking-thinking-prideful "flesh creatures"(thanks Pastor Ellis!) believe when our kids are making sense-we tell them contrary, because we don't want to admit God can put correction on the mouth of our children?! When my kids ministered TO ME the EXACT thing I ministered to them (in the midst of a very heated exchange with my mother)-I looked at them, didin't make any excuses and said,I don't know how!!!!!!!!!! And I then said-PRAY FOR ME!! And they did. The fervent prayers of the RIGHTEOUS (age does not matter!) availeth much. Today I can say, I LOVE MY MOTHER! It took 38years to confess that. Praise God for His patience!!
Family, you better recognize the peace you're seeking may be on the tip of your child's tongue-Let them speak!!

This Book Should Be Interesting...

Author (and 1st Lady), Candie Price

THE LIFE AND ROLE OF A PASTOR'S WIFE: New book unleashes the truth about being a pastor's wife.
(September 24, 2007)

source: eurweb.com

Candie A. Price, a pastor's wife of seventeen years, explores the angst and ambiguity surrounding the role and expectations of the pastor's wife in her new book, First Lady: The Real Truth, A Practical Approach to an Ambiguous Role. Price, whose husband, Rev. Arthur Price, Jr., currently pastors the historic Sixteenth Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, AL, provides insights from a personal and biblical perspective in this candid and transparent book about the lives of pastor's and minister's wives.

Price's life changed forever when her husband accepted the call to go into full-time ministry over fifteen years ago. "I was waiting for someone to say, "Baby, this is what you need to do...this is what you should prepare for. But no one ever did. Many women don't know what to expect when their husbands are called into ministry. What does this mean for her? What should she prepare for? This book will help her answer those questions," says Price. She offers biblical responses to many issues relevant to the pastor's/minister's wives' lifestyle, including but not limited to:

* What is God's purpose for your life as a pastor's/minister's wife?

* How do you balance church and home?

* How do you deal with the man of God when he is in sin?

* Do you have to be involved in the ministry to be an effective pastor's/minister's wife?

* How do you handle loneliness?

The Prices have served in two congregations and have approximately fifteen years full-time ministry experience. "It is my desire that everyone that reads this book will come away with a greater understanding of the commitment and sacrifices that it takes to serve God's people. In all reality this is not just a book for pastor's and their wives, but it can also serve as a guide for everyone already involved or attempting to be involved in church leadership."

First Lady: The Real Truth is available online via http://www.candieprice.com/ or through Faith By Hearing Publishing Group, P. O. Box 1994, Birmingham, AL 35202

*****************
Truthfully speaking, I'm not mad at Sis. Candie for carving her own niche. It's hard being a pastor's wife (so I've heard and observed). I wonder if her book educates the reader on how she handles the jezebels who laughs in her face and at the same time is strategizing how to steal her husband? You know there are those "special'' (used loosely) women who only chase after a man with a title. She could care less if he's married, a pastor or has children. Now that would be some real truth to have in the book. I also know it affects the kids-dad is gone all the time. The church family seems to be priority, instead of his biological family.

Hopefully, this book will inspire women such as Sis. Candie, to speak out and offer support to one another. And for those who read this book maybe compassion will be extended towards these "weary warriors," because truthfully, the grass IS NOT always greener on the other side.

You better recognize!
