CHANGES ARE A COMIN....CHANGES ARE A COMIN....

Many of YBR's regular readers, may have noticed that I haven't posted my regular 6-22 ppd (posts per day), lol

That's bcuz at the prodding of members of my blog family, I have bought my own domain and have been dedicating my time to making my website look presentable.
It's more than a notion.
It's Wordpress and it's not as flexible (with fonts, colors etc) as Blogger, but it's still mine's.

for those who are curious come on over to
Brias Own Words

I'm still searching for a template I'm bedazzled by (haven't found it yet) so to me B.O.W. is still:
Under Construction

Sit Yo' -Talkin'-Out-The-Side-of-Yo'-Neck, Down!!

Surely He Jests??

One of my beautiful sisters, "T" of Colored Girls blog... forwarded all of us an email that was disturbing, to say the least!

I believe as constituents we're entitled to vote for whom we fill is best suited to serve as Commander-In-Chief of the U.S.A

However *clearing throat* as Christians, I believe we should be prayerful (literally) when considering our choice as president.

Which brings me to this video. It's Pastor Manning of Atlah Worldwide Missionary Church
Not only is he not voting for Barack Obama (neither am I), but he ATTACKS the man! In addition to attacking Obama, he goes on a tirade about white people, house nigga, good nigga etc.
Well, why don't you tell the church how u really feel...pastor?

Being in a position of leadership is the equivalent of being in a position of influence.
You must line up with the Word of God.
Manning has lined up with Proverbs 6:19b:
"... And one who sows discord among brethren."

I don't know what Obama has done to Manning, but he is pi**ed off.
Based on the audience's response, I would guess confusion is their portion.
And then...without missing a beat, he continues his text in Isaiah.
You must be kidding me?!

As a pastor it is his responsibility to teach the truth according to Christ...racism, mudslinging etc is irresponsible, immature and dangerous!
Why is a pastor this angry, leading a church? Shouldn't he get some deliverance and healing, first?
I'm just saying.

KattWilliams -U Gots To Be Mo' Careful!

KATT WILLIAMS DISAPPOINTS CHICAGO FANS: Comedian atones by offering to give audience its money back.

*Over the New Year's weekend funny man Katt Williams debuted his new comedy material to a sold-out crowd at the Aire Crown Theater in Chicago. Unfortunately the audience didn't find the pint sized pimp to be all that funny.

Power 92 Radio host and Internet personality, Kendra G. was in attendance and tells EURweb that the audience was very restless from the beginning because Williams showed up to the venue an hour and a half late!

And to make matters even worse it seemed like he may have been high! At least that was an observation from some in attendance. (The fact of him being high has not been confirmed.)

Towards the end of his performance a woman in the audience yelled out, "I want a refund!" What happened next was even more surprising as Williams decided to not only give the woman who yelled out a refund, but the entire audience, too!

Katt Williams & Kendra G.

After the show Kendra G interviewed Williams and he stated the reason he decided to give the crowd their money back was because it has never been done before and that some people claimed they couldn't hear the show and that was not tolerable as far he's concerned. Listen here:

According to Kendra G, maybe the refund would have alleviated the crowd's disappointment but as of now, she says no ticket refunds have made.

"Personally, I will not say that Katt Williams was not funny because he was! But expectations for Katt are very high right now and with that being said he was not as funny as he was in Pimp Chronicles and the fact that the show started so late made it heard for the audience to accept anything less than what they were expecting," Kendra G. stated.

***
That's NOT FUNNY.
(alleged)Drugs+People=bad news
I still like Katt Williams.
And although he may have been (allegedly)UTI (under the influence), he still proved to be a man of integrity by refunding disappointed fans their monies.
That's aiiight.

Mary J has Grown Up!

Mary Does What Few of Us Wants To Do:
Humbles Herself

Like most of us, I was hooked on Mary's "Just Fine,"
I forgot about her CD release until my daughter Nesa said,
"mama, you gotta get Mary's new CD!"
Well, if my 19y/o is pushing Mary, it must be tight, right?
Well, I got the cd and didn't know what to think...
trk 1 "work that"-diddy tells women to be happy with yourself-don't worry about what people say about you-work that!
trk 2 "Grown Woman ft. Ludacris"-I like this song simply cuz Mary gets her rap on! Go Mary!
trk 4 "Feel Like A Woman"-Mary keeps it real. Man, I want u to make me feel like a woman-I want to be DEPENDENT for a change. (loves it)

After the duet w/Ludacris, Mary songs delves into relationships, the struggles but wanting to work it out. Stick and Stay, and her willingness to do whatever's necessary to make it WORK!

Now, Mary is still Mary and she still keeps it real, so trk 9 "Roses" is her saying, "look ok relationships isn't always going to be about you...i'm goin to be Mrs. Right TODAY...you've been Mr. Right all the other days, but today's my day.
Relationships ain't all "Roses...ain't all candy,"
people need to understand that...marriage is NOT the wedding.
The end of this song is just funny...people giving her advice saying "u need to figure it out" and Mary's retort is: " no U FIGURE IT OT..U SUCK IT UP!"
That's Mary!

Trks 10-15 are just...wow-if you listen to the lyrics, Mary gives you a real glimpse inside of marriage. It's hard, it's tough, but the love is beautiful nontheless.
The
pièce de résistance beyond a shadow of a doubt is:

trk 16 is "Come to Me (Peace)" [last trk on the cd] Not only is the music beautifully emotional, but Mary is soft, she's honest, she's absolutely touching in this song.
This song is for those times you've looked over mistakes in the marriage-which is now in shambles, realized your part in the mess, and said you know what? 'this relationship is still salvageable and I'm willing to make peace between us. I'm not going to give this relationship away, and if I have to beg, plead or cry-so be it.'
The urgency in the music is felt as the song draws to an end.

Mary, has definitely grown up-only the mature would understand and appreciate this CD.

I give this CD:

JENA 6 UPDATE...

Judge recuses self from bid to open Jena trial
New judge will decide if racially-charged case should be open to public
source (image courtesy of Google Images; editing by Ivent)

NEW ORLEANS - A judge has disqualified himself from hearing a request from news media to open juvenile court proceedings for a black teenager charged with beating a white classmate in Jena, a case that has drawn thousands of protesters.

State District Judge J.P. Mauffray Jr.’s recusal paves the way for another judge to decide whether the case against 17-year-old Mychal Bell should be open to the public.

Another judge was not immediately appointed to hear the petition filed by The Associated Press and more than two dozen newspapers, television networks and network affiliates.

The news organizations are seeking permission to attend new hearings in Bell’s case, to review transcripts of previous hearings and other court records, and to lift a gag order against participants in the case.

Bell, 17, originally was charged with attempted murder for his alleged role in a December 2006 attack on Justin Barker at Jena High School. That charge was reduced before a jury convicted him in June of aggravated second-degree battery. Mauffray presided over the trial.

The charges against Bell and five others — the so-called “Jena Six” — sparked a huge civil-rights demonstration in Jena last month. Critics accused District Attorney Reed Walters of treating blacks more harshly than whites, because his office didn’t file charges against three white teens accused of hanging nooses in a tree at the high school shortly before the attack on Barker.
In September, a state appeals court vacated Bell’s conviction and ruled that he shouldn’t have been tried as an adult. Bell is due in juvenile court early next month — also before Mauffray — and has a tentative trial date of Dec. 6.

Judge named as defendant
In a one-page ruling, Mauffray indicated he recused himself because he was named as a defendant in the news media’s litigation. Mauffray is the only judge assigned to the Lasalle Parish court where Bell’s case is being heard. Dan Zimmerman, an attorney for the news organizations, said the judge would have been in a “difficult position” if he had to review his own decision.

Criminal cases involving juveniles in Louisiana are usually sealed, but lawyers for the news organizations argue that aggravated second-degree battery is one of the violent offenses that allows a juvenile court case to be opened to the public.
***
I'm not sure if in fact is a good idea to open this court case to the public.
This was and is still an emotionally charged situation and I don't believe everyone will be mindful of court protocol, nor that court will be in process. There are those who cannot leave their emotions out in the parking lot, and I believe should this case be allowed to proceed in public, it will become a spectacle...however,I do hope I'm wrong.
While I believe transcripts should be made readily available (highly unlikely since this is in regards to a juvenile), I also believe it will be met with regret should this court allow the public to viw court proceedings. Again, I hope i'm wrong.

OHHHHHH...HE....IS...GOOD!!

*smh*
You know what? If it wasn't for the eyewitness at the hotel, and the police officer on TV, I'd call Junie B a LIAR!! I'd say..."Junie B! don't be hatin' on Bishop T!" I'm telling you, it is my HUMBLE opinion, after viewing this video, that "bishop" has found himself. He exudes a confidence, and assurance that I thought only came from ridin on Junie B's coattail. And we all know neither Junie B, nor her makeup, nor her coattails are within 1,000 ft of "bishop T," ok? Either he has done some type of repentance, or he's got a serious mentor cuz this man seems to be "free!" (I choose "B")
Well, I guess he is free in a sense...he doesn't have loudmouth Junie B around to worry his nerves. If I saw this video(below) before the attack, I would've said the story is made up and HE DID NOT STUMP HER VA-JAY-JAY!! But they say-say he stumped her in her va-jay-, and that's soooooo not o.k.k.k.
Check him out yourself:

Guess who's NOT coming to dinner???

Katelyn, and son D'Andre

D'Andre's dad, Reme Johnson-

It had to be a mugshot-RIGHT MAINSTREAM MEDIA?! D'Andre's uber-proud grandparents, the Kampfs!

Plea Deal Made in Kidnap-Abortion Case
credit: AOL News/AP

PORTLAND, Maine (Oct. 11) - The parents of a white woman pregnant with a black South African man's child have reached a plea agreement in which they will serve no time in prison for allegedly trying to kidnap her to force her to have an abortion, the couple's lawyer said Wednesday

Nicholas and Lola Kampf have agreed to plead guilty Friday to misdemeanor assault and disorderly conduct charges to resolve the case, said Thomas Hallett, Nicholas Kampf's attorney.Under the agreement, the couple will avoid jail time and the assault charge will be dropped once they complete counseling, Hallett said."The reality is this was a family matter from the get-go. We tried to resolve this in the best way possible. It was in the best interest of everyone not to blow this up into a big trial," Hallett said.

The Kampfs were accused of tying up their daughter Katelyn, forcing her into their car and heading toward New York for an abortion. They were arrested last September at a shopping center in Salem, New Hampshire, after Katelyn fled and called police on a cell phone. Katelyn Kampf, 20, said she is frustrated that District Attorney Stephanie Anderson is dropping the felony kidnapping charge."She's just letting my parents get off with barely a slap on the wrist," Kampf told the Portland Press Herald in Wednesday's edition.
Anderson responded that Kampf was involved in the discussions, and she said she was unaware that Kampf was unhappy with the agreement. Breaking her silence on the ordeal, Katelyn Kampf described a harrowing experience that ensued on Sept. 15, 2006, after her parents learned she was pregnant with a mixed-race baby. Reme Johnson, her boyfriend at the time, is black."I did end up making a run for it," she told broadcaster WMTW-TV in an interview. "At one point, I ran out of the house. My father chased me down our driveway and tackled me, and I had grass stains all over, and I was screaming for help."

After she escaped at a shopping center in Salem, New Hampshire, police found a .22-caliber rifle, duct tape and rope in the parents' car.Kampf could not be reached for additional comment Wednesday, and her attorney and the district attorney didn't immediately return calls from The Associated Press. Hallett denied that the Kampfs were racist - calling the accusation "garbage" - but said the parents were troubled by the unplanned pregnancy."These were two parents who were absolutely torn apart by what was happening to their daughter, just torn apart," Hallett said. "It was like a nuclear explosion going off in any family that has to face a similar situation. "Katelyn Kampf's son, D'Andre Johnson, was born in January. The baby's father, Reme Johnson, is being held by immigration officials and scheduled to be deported to his native South Africa after serving time for receiving stolen property.
**********
Where do I begin??
Being the parent of a daughter the same age as Katelyn, I understand why the Kampfs were upset. Single parenthood is hard, and life-altering. *If I found out my daughter was impregnated by a white man?* I could care less, and my daughter can verify this--I'd be too upset that she was pregnant at such a young age! Having said that, THERE'S NO WAY I'd want to EXTERMINATE MY OWN FLESH AND BLOOD! That baby would be my posterity, my lineage, my blood. That's like killing myself! My sister experienced her daughter getting pregnant, and she was livid! She knew the struggles, the obstacles her daughter, my niece would endure. But guess what? My sister got over it, and her grandson Damari (my 1st great nephew!) is the joy of ALL OF OUR LIVES, but esp. grandma. My sister is a WONDERFUL grandmother!!
What Katelyn did was courageous, but her parents were cowards.
Stop giving credence to what the neighbors, your friends, associates, colleagues, church members etc would think and say, and tell your daughter that "you're all in it together!"
Lil' D'Andre is going to have a fight on his hands.
He's:
  • black
  • male
  • has a young mother
  • the son of a convict-named Reme (i hope it's not pronounced like the liquor "Remy")
  • born into a single parent household
  • the grandchild of bigoted (?), controlling parents
  • featured in a publicized story so now EVERYONE will know who they are= unwanted attention & pressure

I'm a firm believer that God, is a God of restoration. I believe he can restore and perfect Katelyn's familial relationship--after she let's go of the anger. Yes, I'm talking forgiveness. It's a process, but it is possible to achieve.

God bless the Kampf family!
