Church Has No Sanctity Anymore...

My goodness...the devil is getting bolder and bolder erryday! Folks can't even enjoy a doggone church festival w/out worryin about looney tunes trying to play target practice with their lives!

Three people were critically injured in Granada Hills, Ca at a church festival given by St. John Baptiste de la salle Catholic Church, when a man just decided to take his semi-auto rifle and shoot at them! How's that for something to do in sunny Cali? The beauty of this story? The idiot didn't have time to turn the gun on himself, bcuz the Cali citizens weren't having it! they tackled his raggedy behind until police arrived! I know that's right.

...I don't think y'all would've gotten in trouble with Jesus if you 'accidentally' hit the b butt of his gun against his cranium a couple of HARD times! Sorry, Jesus. Thoughts and prayers are with the vics and families.CNN

Well...Now That It's Legal in Cali...

What it's looking like in Cali right now in the LGBT community, AFTER Cali courts said lgbt can now get married:



I don't know why this is so shocking to me, but it is.
For some reason, I AM SHOCKED gay marriage has been legalized in Cali.

Yes this is shocking, I've lived that lifestyle...have friends who are living it.
Not judging-but I believe in marriage being between male/female.

I'm not asking if you like it, or agree with me.

It is what it is.

I'm wondering which state's goin to follow suit, now that Cali's gone this way?
just...wow.

'DONDA WEST LAW' TO BE PROPOSED IN CALI: Bill would require patients to get medical clearance before undergoing plastic surgery.

*A California Assemblywoman is sponsoring new legislation that would require all patients receiving elective plastic surgery to receive clearance from a licensed doctor.

On behalf of Kanye West's family, Assemblywoman Wilmer Amina Carter announced Friday (Feb. 22) that she has proposed the "Donda West Law," which would allow doctors to ensure that patients are healthy enough to endure the potential rigors of general anesthesia.

"Most people who do cosmetic surgery are certified and do a good job, and they do require patients to have physicals," Carter told the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin on Friday. "But some do not, and as we have seen, it can cause problems, and that's why we want to make this a requirement across the state."

Dr. Donda West, the mother of Kanye West, died Nov. 10 at a hospital in Los Angeles a day after undergoing breast reduction surgery, a tummy tuck and liposuction. An autopsy revealed she likely died of heart disease, coupled with complications after the surgery, "but the final manner of death could not be determined," the report concluded.

Yolanda Anderson, a niece of Donda West, reached out to Carter to suggest the legislation.

"I didn't want her death to be in vain," said Anderson, 45. "I wanted her name to live on so this wouldn't happen to other people."

Anderson said she spoke with Kanye on Friday afternoon while he's on tour in Australia and told him of Carter's involvement.

"He is ecstatic and very grateful," Anderson said. "He said, 'You started this. Now run with it and let me know how I can help."'

Anderson said there's an effort to get similar legislation pushed in Illinois, where Dr. West lived for many years, as well as Oklahoma, where she was born. Kanye West also suggested New York, where his mother did business on his behalf. source

Letting Go Is The Hardest Part....

A piece of my heart is in Cali...

Last night, 01.19.08, I watched a piece of my heart board a plane to California.
My daughter Nesa, felt impeded living in Mi, and as a show of support I offered to help remedy that.
In venting to my lil sis-who comments on here as " Yo' Sista" (she's so original, lol)-she offered to help my baby, by offering her home to her.
It was sooo unexpected I broke down in tears. (yes, I did)
In what had to be the quickest passage of time, 30 days came and went, and it was time to drive my baby to the airport.
She chose the right day-so far it was the coldest day of 2008. A bitter, wintry cold that meant uncertain death for some unfortunate souls.

My daughter is the spitting image of me.

Her face is her father's, but my daughter is a WWC (Women With Curves) member-like mommy, but not only that:
she loves hard
she's loyal
loves to laugh
is staunch in her opinions
stands by her convictions
a procrastinator :)
is smart
blunt
will apologize if she's offended
fights for the underdog
believes it takes a village to raise a child
doesn't like change, but will change eventually
needs to know (by verbal and physical actions) that she's loved
needs encouragement and guidance
and is crazy in love with Christ.

Our relationship is a testimony to Christ.

We've been thru hell and high water as our relationship did a nosedive into hatred and rebellion, which in turn lead to an extremely tumultuous period during her teenage years (14-17).
She blamed me for her life, and her father's lack of participation in said life.
She strongly disliked me and vice versa.
She's lived between my home and her paternal aunt.
We survived.
Things changed on her graduation day from high school.
She thanked me for raising her, and for my not allowing her to be a wildchild on the street.
I've since had to step back and watch her evolve into the woman that God not mom, has called her to be.

• *Remember: life at times is like driving on a sheet of ice on MI streets. You can't keep your car from sliding, but you can keep it from getting worse. Do you remember how? Stay calm, take your foot off the brake, and turn the steering wheel in the same direction as the skid (storm), not the opposite. In other words, work with the storm, skid, challenge-don't fight it. You'll only prolong the skid, and it can end disastrously.*
  
• Are Very Gentle & Attentive To (Their) Young: Nesa, God has imparted into you a great love for young people. You know what they need, when they need it. Continue to love, hug, kiss, and encourage young people. Especially those whose only point of contact may be you. I've observed you with pride as you've interacted with children, and in speaking with friends,I've referred to you as the Pied Piper of Children. Your loyalty knows no bounds and thank you for getting little kids ready for school when their mamas' wouldn't. You've combed hair, gotten them dressed, seen them off to bus stops, and were home when they arrived from school. All this and you have no children of your own. You are such a blessing! Hi Family!
I'm back and I'm freezing!
It hovered between 56-62 degrees in L.A, and while everyone out there kicked their heaters up
to HELL...I was sweating!!
People were wrapped up in coats and hats,and I'm looking at them like like:
"you must be kidding?!"
56 degrees in Mich-will bring out the folks who wears shorts!
It was wonderful seeing my dad & stepmom and my bestest cousins:

I would like to give a special shout out to that GORGEOUS cook named Saadiq at the Gumbo Shack on Prairie! Lawd it's hard eating crabs and trying to look sexy at the same time!! :) But I did managed to pull it off ;)

The pic above at left, is of me and my 1st love Colin. He's a police officer for the state of California. That man has never met a camera he didn't like!! lol

All in all it was a wonderful trip, and I want to thank you, my blog fam who held it down and represented for me, eventhough I couldn't post as often!

*At least one of the celebrities shamed on California's list of biggest tax offenders has come forward with an attempt to explain what went wrong.

Singer Dionne Warwick was exposed last week as owing 2.67 million in back taxes, but her rep says another party is responsible for the mixup.

"Ms. Warwick is aware of the tax situation which resulted from the negligence of previous business advisers," Warwick's publicist told TMZ.com. "She and her current business management team are now working with the state of California to resolve and settle the matter with the FTB [Franchise Tax Board]."

As previously reported, California's FTB announces the names of the state's biggest tax evaders in hopes of shaming and embarrassing the worst perpetrators into paying their debt. Other offenders included comedian Sinbad, who owes $2.14 million, and O.J. Simpson, whose debt totals $1.55 million.

Advocates for Faith and Freedom filed a lawsuit with the Federal District Court in San Diego on behalf of several employees whose constitutional right of equal access was denied by the Superior Court of San Diego when they were forced to stop using a weekly meeting place for their lunchtime Bible study.

In April 2006, Mindy Barlow and Dalia R. Smith, court employees for the Superior Court, were told that their Bible study group could not meet in an empty jury room or courtroom during the lunch hour, even though other groups are allowed to use the court's facilities.
The Bible study group had been meeting since 2000 when the court initially gave them permission. Six years later, they were suddenly and arbitrarily denied use, forcing them to seek further approval.

Meanwhile, the court instituted a policy requiring all individuals, groups, or organizations seeking to use court facilities to submit an application. When the Bible study participants submitted their application, the courts denied their request, stating that approval of the Bible study would violate the separation of church and state.

"The constitutional rights of these court employees cannot be ignored simply because they work for the state," said Advocates' Legal Counsel, Jennifer Monk. "This Bible study should be given access to court facilities in the same manner as other groups, regardless of the -fact that they meet to study the Bible."

By rejecting the court employees' right to hold a Bible study, the San Diego Superior Court has directly violated the group members' First Amendment rights of free speech and free exercise of religion. The lawsuit accordingly asks the Federal District Court to declare the policy implemented by the courts unconstitutional and, in doing so, to allow the Bible study to resume meeting in court facilities.

Robert Tyler, General Counsel for Advocates for Faith and Freedom commented: "It is not too surprising when government agencies misapply applicable constitutional principles, but this is the Superior Court of California - they should know better."
Advocates' co-counsel on the case is the American Center for Law and Justice, a constitutional legal organization based in Virginia Beach, VA..
